Mammoth Cave National Park is home to the longest known cave system in the world. This park has 400 miles of explored caverns and countless more still waiting to be discovered. Visitors can choose from a variety of cave tours based on their interests and fitness needs. You also have the option to hike and explore the surrounding woods or to try your hand at river fishing.

Great Smoky Mountains National Park is four hours away in North Carolina. With more than 500,000 acres of beautiful forest, mountains, and streams, this park is sure to entertain you with its endless recreational activities. Hike along the more than 800 miles of trails, or try fishing or auto touring. The park also holds exciting seasonal events and ranger-led tours.

Edmonton is 347 miles away from Gateway Arch National Park in Missouri. This park marks the area where Lewis and Clark started their 19th-century expedition. Visitors are welcome to explore the 91 acres of land right on the Mississippi River. You can also ascend the 630-foot stainless steel arch that towers over the park and nearby St. Louis. Don't forget to reserve some time for a guided tour through the historic Old Courthouse. 

Green River Lake State Park encompasses 1,331 acres of land in addition to the 8,200-acre lake. Just outside Campbellsville, this park is perfect for horseback riding, boating, tubing, and fishing. There are 28 miles of all-purpose trails and an on-site campground with water and electricity. 

Standing Stone State Park in Tennessee is home to the man-made, 69-acre Standing Stone Lake. The surrounding forest spreads out over 11,000 acres, giving you plenty of room to look for wildlife, hike, mountain bike, and stargaze. You're welcome to boat, fish, and swim in the lake. The park holds events like car shows, festivals, and championships. 

Kentucky's Lake Cumberland State Park is touted as having some of the best fishing spots in the state. The park has more than 1,000 miles of shoreline on the 52,000-acre Lake Cumberland. There's both a miniature golf course and a disc golf course. You can also go horseback riding or rent Jet Skis. The local campground has fire rings, picnic shelters, and an RV dumping station. You could easily spend several days if not your whole trip enjoying all of the gorgeous natural sights and modern amenities at Lake Cumberland State Park. 

The Abraham Lincoln Birthplace National Historical Park is an hour away near the city of Hodgenville and is one nearby landmark. Abraham Lincoln lived in a one-room log cabin that is memorialized today with an ivory structure. Visitors are encouraged to hike the grounds and learn more about the former president's life. 

Cumberland Falls is often referred to as "the Little Niagara." This incredible cascade is best viewed in full sunlight when the water droplets can make a rainbow. You’ll also want to visit the Pinnacle Knob Fire Tower and take a Rainbow Mist boat ride. 

Fort Williams in Glasgow was the site of a major Civil War battle. There's a nearby cemetery, as well as informational plaques with facts about the fort and the troops that resided there. 

Bailey's Point Campground in Glasgow sits on the breathtaking 10,000-acre Barren River Lake. Every campsite has a lovely view of the water, and you'll also get convenient access to fishing spots, hiking trails, and picnic areas. Plan to stay at Mammoth Cave Campground if you want to spend a lot of time in the national park. This site has hot showers, laundry facilities, and a seasonal general store. Cave Country RV Campground is the perfect spot for you if you have a big rig. They're open year-round and have a massive dog park perfect for every pooch.
