This site is also famous for the many different petroglyphs etched into stones around the park that date back hundreds of years. Unfortunately, there is no camping within this site. Campers wishing to visit will find many amenities at the nearby Lake Meredith National Recreation Area. 

National Forests Near Amarillo, Texas

Covering over 1.6 million acres, the Cibola National Forest is the name given to many disjointed forests spread across New Mexico, Texas, and Oklahoma. One of the major draws to this national forest is the “sky islands” region that houses several hundred rare plant and animal species. There are many different recreational activities for visitors of the forest to partake in, such as backpacking, skiing, hiking, and camping.
