While most people associate Daytona with NASCAR's Daytona 500, motocross fans know this city as the home of the Ricky Carmichael Daytona Supercross. Three days of high-octane fun, the Daytona Supercross is one of the premier racing events in the sport. With tons of activities ranging from racing to meet and greets to food vendors and everything in between, there are few sporting events like it. The Ricky Carmichael Daytona Supercross accommodates and encourages RV campers to participate, so you can stay for the whole weekend and enjoy the adrenaline rush with friends.

ACTIVITIES & ENTERTAINMENT

There's plenty to do during the Ricky Carmichael Daytona Supercross. First and foremost is, of course, watching the races as they're happening throughout the three days. With some of the fiercest competitors in the sport as well as plenty of talented up-and-comers all fighting it out, there are few events more exciting within the world of motocross. Besides the main event, you can also experience a ton of other great entertainment options while visiting the Daytona International Speedway:

• Enjoy the many food and drink concession stands scattered throughout the speedway.

• Take a tour around the speedway and see places like the track and NASCAR garages up close.

• Get trackside access with ticket upgrades to get closer to the action than anyone else.

• Learn about the history of the track and the various events that take place at the on-site Motorsports Hall of Fame museum.

• Purchase souvenirs from both the Pit Shop and Fanatics Trackside.

The Ricky Carmichael Daytona Supercross is held at the Daytona International Speedway. The address is:

Daytona International Speedway

RVING AT THE EVENT

The Daytona Speedway is set up to accommodate RV campers in many ways. You'll have many options to camp in and around the speedway. The best seats in the house are the infield camping spots in the center of the track. However, parking lot-style campgrounds are also available to rent if an infield spot is a bit out of the scope of your vacation. When camping at the speedway, parking will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis to those who have purchased camping passes. Spots with 50-amp hookups are available to rent and work for vehicles up to 20 by 55 feet.

There are also plenty of RV campgrounds surrounding the speedway with their own perks and amenities. Daytona's Speedway RV, Daytona Racetrack RV and plenty of others are all located within walking distance of the arena. The trade-off for not being located precisely in or just outside of the Daytona Speedway is the campgrounds' extra features like laundry facilities, free Wi-Fi, more robust grounds and plenty more depending on the location you choose.

WHERE TO STAY

If you decide to make the trip out to the Supercross in something other than an RV, there are still plenty of great places to stay during your trip.

RV camping

There are various camping locations both in and around the Daytona Speedway. Whether you're in the infield of the Daytona Speedway or in one of the nearby RV communities, you'll be able to spend the weekend in your ride without much issue.

Hotels

Given the Daytona Speedway and Daytona Beach's popularity, there are a ton of different hotels, motels and other places to stay if you aren't planning to camp out in your RV. Plenty of these, including big names like Quality Inn, are situated right in the middle of a ton of different attractions, being a good middle ground between the speedway, the beach and various other places you might like to visit. The Daytona Speedway itself also offers several travel packages that include hotel stays. Like with many major events, these places tend to fill up around race day, the closest hotels being the first to go. Reserve your rooms early if you want to be within a short walk or drive from the speedway.

HOW TO GET THERE

Getting to the Daytona Speedway on the weekend of the Ricky Carmichael Daytona Supercross can be a bit of a challenge given the traffic. However, there are a few good strategies you can employ to navigate your way to the venue with minimal issue.

Coming from Jacksonville

North of Daytona is Jacksonville. If this is where you'll be entering from, take Interstate 95 South and get off on exit 273 to get to U.S. Route 1. Continue south until reaching Granada Blvd, otherwise known as State Road 40. Hang a right here to Clyde Morris Blvd and travel south until reaching Lot 7.

Coming from Melbourne

If you're arriving from the south, go north on I-95 until you get to LPGA Blvd off exit 265. Travel east until reaching Clyde Morris Blvd, at which point you'll go south until making it to Lot 7 to park.

Coming from Daytona Beach

If you'll be heading from the beach to the east, you'll want to get onto U.S. Route 1 via any of the area's bridges. Continue down U.S. 1 until getting onto Mason Ave. Head west until reaching Clyde Morris Blvd, which will take you to Lot 7 and the speedway.

Coming from Orlando

Coming from Orlando in the west will require you to drive from Interstate 4 East until hitting State Road 44 off exit 118. Travel east until reaching U.S. Route 1, and then head north until State Road 400, otherwise known as Beville Rd. Head west until you get onto Clyde Morris Blvd, leading you to Lot 7 in the north.

PARKING

There are plenty of places to park when you come to the Daytona Speedway. For those driving in a normal car or truck, Lot 3's first-come, first-served parking is entirely free, but those with a purchased parking pass can get better locations. You also have Lot 7's parking that is farther away from the venue but usually has room to spare.

The trackside Lot 4, the Frontstretch Parking, the Rolex-24 Gold Lot and Road Course Infield Parking are all paid parking areas with a short distance to the venue, a good view or both. Both the Gold Lot and Infield allow RV parking while the others do not. If you're visiting in an RV but you do not intend to camp at the speedway, your best option will likely be the Road Course Infield parking area with additional room at the truck pad near the NASCAR garages.

Additionally, you can find a ton of other places to park around the city, both paid and free. If your hotel or other lodging happens to be far from the speedway, you can even leave yourself parked there and catch a tram or bus to within walking distance of the venue.

TICKETS & PRICING

You can buy gate admission tickets to the Ricky Carmichael Daytona Supercross at the Fan Zone Box Office at the Daytona Speedway itself. This goes for guests as well as riders. General admission costs $45 for adults but is free for children age 5 and under. Reserved frontstretch seating right behind the finish line costs between $55 and $65. Tickets to sit on the bleachers closest to the track, known as The Roost, cost up to $100 each.

MX Sports, an affiliate with the race and the speedway, also sells tickets. For RV campers, MX Sports is the only place that will supply your parking tickets and camping passes.
