ON-SITE AMENITIES

The State Fair of Virginia has many amenities for visitors. There are ATMs located throughout the grounds. The Farm Bureau Center features a 10-by-20-foot space for those with sensory issues. The fair is also accessible to everyone. There are motorized scooters and wheelchairs available for rent on a first-come, first-served basis. 

LOCATION

Meadow Event Park is located in Caroline County, and it is rich in history. This park was the birthplace of the famed racehorse Secretariat. Meadow Event Park is just minutes from Fredericksburg and Richmond. It is also an easy drive from Washington, D.C., and from Virginia Beach. The address is:

LINEUP

You can enjoy live music at the Main Stage, and the music genre ranges from Grammy-winning artists to emerging local acts. All the concerts are included with admission to the fair. The lineup is not finalized, but you can always check out the lineup page for any updates.

RVING AT THE EVENT

Many people travel to the State Fair with an RV. If you want to have the luxury of your own motorhome, then you should think about an RV rental from RVshare. You can spend a fun-filled day at the fair and then head home to your private living space. Fortunately, there are RV facilities on site at Meadow Event Park. The Bold Ruler House is a 6.5-acre field, and it has 32 parking spots for your RV. Sixteen of the spaces are equipped for electric, water and sewer hookups. The remaining spaces have only water and electric hookups. For a large event like the State Fair, you will want to make reservations before heading out to the grounds. If you cannot secure a space at Meadow Event Park, there are other RV camping spots in the area. 

Hidden Acres Family Campground

Hidden Acres Family Campground is located off Route 301. You can rent an RV spot, tent or cabin throughout the year. There is a swimming pool, shuffleboard court and mini-golf course. You can even fish in the stocked pond, use the game room and let children enjoy the two playgrounds. All the RV campsites at Hidden Acres include water, sewer and electric hookups. If you want to cook your own dinner at the end of the day, there are fire pits available for all the guests to use. You can find this RV campground at:

RD Family Campground

Another choice is the RD Family Campground in the Bowling Green area. You can secure daily, weekly or monthly rates. This campground offers cabins, rental trailers, tent sites and full RV hookups. There are also propane refill stations for tanks and RVs. This site has a variety of amenities, including indoor restrooms, swimming pools and a lounge. If you forget anything on your trip, there is a general store filled with food and RV supplies. All the sites include full hookups for electricity, sewer and water. RD Family Campground has an onsite dump station as well. The address is:

Champs Camp

This RV campground is located between Washington, D.C., and Richmond, VA. This spot is the perfect place to spend some quiet time in the great outdoors. There are 30 RV sites, and each of them features 50-amp full hookups, including 22 back-in and 8 pull-through spots. You can park your RV on an asphalt pad that also features picnic tables and outdoor grills. While you are there, you'll enjoy 24-hour access to the RV service center. You can take out a canoe rental or hike the nature trails. These activities are all within walking distance of the campground. Champs Camp is located at:

WHERE TO STAY

Here are some ideas for accommodations during the fair.

RV Camping

An RV is a great way to experience the excitement of the State Fair of Virginia, and you still have a private space to relax at the end of the day. Whether you camp at Meadow Event Park or not, there are plenty of options to park your rig for the festivities. Once you return to your RV, you can enjoy your own home-cooked meals or sleep in a comfortable bed as you spend the night in nature. 

Hotels

You can find many hotels and motels in the Doswell area. The Country Inn & Suites is a popular choice for families. This site features a hot tub, indoor pool and gym. You won’t want to miss out on the free Wi-Fi, breakfast and parking. La Quinta Inn & Suites is another solid choice in the area. You can enjoy the indoor pool, free breakfast and Wi-Fi. For those who want something different, you will not want to miss the Henry Clay Inn. This hotel is located in a restored mansion, and it offers a luxurious stay for all guests.

HOW TO GET THERE

You can easily travel to the Meadow Event Park from several major cities. This park is 20 miles north of Richmond and 75 miles south of Washington, D.C. From I-95, you want to take Exit 98 and follow it for 1.5 miles east to Route 30. The main entrance of Meadow Event Park is on the left, and you will want to follow the signs to the State Fair. 

There are alternate routes to the grounds. You can take U.S. Route 301 to State Route 30 for 3 miles. The main entrance of the complex will be on your right. U.S. Route 1 is another easy way to get to Meadow Event Park. You want to take U.S. Route 1 to State Route 30 and travel 2 miles. The main entrance is on your left.

PARKING

You can purchase premium parking that is close to the grounds near Gate 2 by the Farm Bureau Center. This premium lot is paved, and it is closer to all the fun and attractions. However, you need to purchase the tickets in advance. Admission is also not included in the parking price. For those who want parking at the site, you can pay at the gate. There is a limited number of spaces at Meadow Event Park. General parking is free!

TICKETS & PRICING

Ticket prices for the 2024 event will be posted in late July. Tickets for the 2024 State Fair of Virginia usually go on sale September 1, 2024. Amusement rides and food purchases are separate from gate admissions.
