Castle Lakes campground is a pleasantly forested campground located on the Alpine Loop. Located 31 miles from Old Hundred Gold Mine, it sports 2 good trout lakes and great hiking, 4-wheeling, biking and jeep trails.
Remotely located in a peaceful forest, this campground has a playground and horseshoe pits for the kids and 2 private fishing lakes. It is a 20 minute drive to restaurants, museums, historic district and 30 minutes to the ghost town and mine tours. There is plenty to keep you busy here.
“The sites are mostly back-in sites but some very large TT and fifth wheels had no problems getting in and out. The scenery is tremendous! The lakes are surrounded by snow capped peaks. The campground elevation is over 9,000 feet so be prepared with warm clothes. Lake City is very small with only two small grocery stores. Be advised to bring food and beverages with you.” -HangDiver, RV Park Reviews
