Arcadia Lake

Located in Edmond on the Deep Fork River, Arcadia Lake features sandy beaches for sunbathing or relaxing. Swim, boat, or enjoy the fishing pier and covered dock. There are hiking trails and a disc golf course, and concessions are available during summer. Nearby RV-friendly camping makes it ideal for multi-day stays.

Located in Edmond near Oklahoma City, there are plenty of museums, parks, and other attractions in the area. We especially love Science Museum Oklahoma. 

Tom Steed Reservoir

Adjacent to Great Plains State Park, Tom Steed Reservoir has 31 miles of shoreline, a swim area, and boat ramps. Family-friendly amenities include concessions, a playground, restrooms, and picnic areas. Enjoy boating, waterskiing, hiking, and fishing for catfish, bass, and crappie.

While in the area, be sure to explore Great Plains State Park or visit Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge for hiking. 

Lake Eufaula

Oklahoma’s largest lake, Lake Eufaula offers 800 miles of shoreline. Lake Eufaula State Park features Hummingbird Beach, marinas with boat rentals, and activities like wakeboarding, waterskiing, tubing, and year-round fishing. On land, enjoy disc golf, picnicking, hiking, and RV camping.

During your visit, make time to explore the state park and be sure to do plenty of relaxing and enjoying nature. 

Broken Bow Lake

Located in the foothills of the Kiamichi Mountains, Broken Bow Lake is surrounded by Beavers Bend State Park. It offers boating, fishing, swimming, and equipment rentals like kayaks and jet skis. Fish for trout along the shore or in the Mountain Fork River.

While here, you can visit towns like Broken Bow, Hochatown, Idabel. There is also an options of exploring  Ouachita National Forest

Lake Murray

Set in Lake Murray State Park, this lake is popular for swimming, fishing, boating, and water sports. Beaches include Sunset Beach, Marina Beach, and Martins Landing. Boat rentals range from kayaks to sailboats. Additional activities include golfing, camping, horseback riding, hiking, and biking.

Chickasaw National Recreation Area and Sulphur Springs are about an hour north of here and both are worth checking out. Ardmore is also nearby for amenities. 

Lake Tenkiller

Lake Tenkiller is known for boating, fishing, and scuba diving. Access it via Tenkiller State Park, with swimming areas and boat ramps at Fisherman’s Point. Two dive shops offer training and gear for Tenkiller Scuba Park. Hiking trails and RV camping are also available.

Things to do near Lake Tenkiller

While at this lake, you’ll want to set aside time to visit Fort Gibson Historic Site or the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame and Museum.

Grand Lake (Grand Lake o’ the Cherokees)

This large lake features multiple parks and beaches. Honey Creek State Park offers swimming, boating, picnic areas, hiking trails, and RV camping with a dump station.

This lake is located near Grove, with other access points like Bernice and Disney. None are huge cities, but all offer amenities. 

Lake Texoma State Park Beach

Lake Texoma spans Texas and Oklahoma and is ideal for boating, kayaking, swimming, and fishing—especially striped bass. Amenities at Lake Texoma State Park include showers, boat ramps, hiking trails, and RV/tent camping.

Things to do near Lake Texoma State Park Beach

Texoma is pretty remote, but some nearby towns offer food and shopping. Kingston is closest, with Durant, OK, and Denison, TX, within 30 miles.

Canton Lake

Canton Lake features a sandy beach for swimming, plus boating, waterskiing, and tubing. Additional amenities include fishing jetties, a nature trail, and Corps of Engineers-managed camping.

Things to do near Canton Lake

This is another lake with not many attractions nearby. That said, Canton and Longdale are nearby and offer everything you need for a comfortable stay. 

Keystone Lake

Keystone Lake, home to Keystone State Park, offers swimming, sandy beaches, boating, and fishing for crappie and bass. Land activities include mountain biking, hiking, ATV/ORV areas, a children’s fishing pond, and playgrounds.

Things to do near Keystone Lake

Because this lake is just 23 miles from Tulsa, you’ll find plenty to see and do nearby, including the fabulous Tulsa Zoo and the Gathering Place.
