Rim Campground

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is responsible for 1 in every 10 acres of land in the U.S.

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) manages 247 million acres of public lands in the United States, including at least 400 campgrounds and 6,000 miles of trails. Most of the campgrounds charge moderate fees in order to help fund the upkeep and maintenance of the facilities. With a modest population of just under 600,000 people, Wyoming is the country’s least populated state. This small population, however, does not represent the sheer vastness of the land that encompasses the state. Serving as one of the top 10 largest states, in terms of area, Wyoming consists of an impressive 63 million acres. Of the 63 million acres, about 18 million are governed by BLM. Rim Campground represents one of the many campgrounds that are under the agency’s jurisdiction. Located in the town of Mills, the facility is ideal for both camping and hiking. Similar to most BLM-managed campsites, Rim Campground does require a small nightly fee. Rim Campground sits within 275 miles of four United States national parks. Badlands National Park in South Dakota is about 272 miles away. Wind Cave National Park, which is another South Dakota park, is 223 miles outside of the campground area. Grand Teton National Park of Wyoming is 264 miles away, and Colorado’s Rocky Mountain National Park is about 238 outside of the Rim Campground.
