Green River/Warren Bridge River Access Area


The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is responsible for 1 in every 10 acres of land in the U.S.

The Green River/Warren Bridge River Access Area is a free-to-use recreational area owned and maintained by the US Bureau of Land Management (BLM). This area includes both prairie land and river area, and it can be easily accessed by small and medium-sized vehicles, including most RVs. This public access area also includes Bureau of Land Management campgrounds that have 12 open, marked camping spots that are big enough for large groups.

The Green River/Warren Bridge River Access Area is very close to two major Wyoming National Parks: Grand Teton National Park, which is about 60 miles away from the access site, and Yellowstone National Park, which is about 180 miles away. Nearby the access area are plenty of famous mountain peaks, including Gannet Peak and Wyoming Peak, and the Wind River Mountains are the backdrop of the whole Green River/Warren Bridge River Access Area.

Hiking and BikingHiking and Biking

New Fork Trail

New Fork Trail is a trail nearby this access area that winds through a pine forest before reaching the beach of New Fork Lake. The trail is narrow in some areas, but anyone who takes a bike to this trail will find it generally smooth.

Doubletop Mountain Trail

This trail winds through the Wind River Mountains and features a couple of waterfalls. The trail itself becomes more difficult as the distance from the trailhead increases.

Spring Creek Park Trail

This trail is partially shaded and leads to Summit Lake in Wyoming. Along the trail, you'll see plenty of wildflowers, pine trees, and deer during the warmer months.

Fishing & Boating

The Green River/Warren Bridge River Access Area is a popular destination for fishing, boating, and swimming since this area includes access to the Green River. There are a number of marked river access sites on the land, and access sites 1, 2, 4, and 12 have boat ramps for the public to use. The BLM recommends that those who wish to use the boat ramps use vehicles with four-wheel drive. Those who wish to swim or fish on the land may also enjoy using the river access areas nearby the marked campsites for easier access.

Hunting is permitted at the Green River/Warren Bridge River Access Area as long as you hold a valid state hunting license. The most popular animals that are hunted in this access area include deer, antelope, elk, sheep, and mountain goats.

Wildlife ViewingWildlife Viewing

There are many animals native to the Green River/Warren Bridge River Access Area in Wyoming, including moose, bison, mountain lions, grizzly bears, and black bears. Of course, you'll want to keep your distance if you spot one of these large mammals, but you may be able to get up-close views of some of the area's wild birds, such as bald eagles, downy woodpeckers, American robins, and northern flickers.

Picnicking

There are no shelters or designated picnic areas in the Green River/Warren Bridge River Access Area, but the prairie land in this area gives visitors a great opportunity for picnicking on the ground. Consider bringing a blanket or towel to sit on, or use folding chairs in any available clearing. Just be sure to pick up any leftover food so that you do not disturb the wildlife after you leave, and be courteous to others who may be using the access area as well since this area tends to be busy during the summer.

StargazingStargazing

The Green River/Warren Bridge River Access Area is the perfect place to be when you want to enjoy stargazing since overnight stays are allowed on this BLM-owned land. This location in Wyoming is known for having frequent clear nights, too, so be sure to bring along a blanket to lay on when watching the night sky from the flat prairie areas.

If you're looking for BLM camping near me but don't want to choose an RV camping area without full hookups, consider staying at another campground near the BLM-owned Green River/Warren Bridge River Access Area. One option is Yellowstone Trail RV Park, an RV park that has full hookups and water, as well as shower and laundry facilities. You may also like Wind River View Campgrounds, a nearby campground that has similar full hookups and water lines, as well as sewer lines and clean bathroom facilities.

There are 12 marked campsites within the Green River/Warren Bridge River Access Area, and these are all Bureau of Land Management free camping spots. These areas are large enough for RVs, and some are even big enough for groups to share, though they do not include any types of hookups and are primitive spots only. The BLM asks that if you choose to use one of these BLM RV camping sites, you choose one that's just large enough to accommodate you and your group so that others who need the largest spaces can use them at the same time.

If you plan on camping overnight at the Green River/Warren Bridge River Access Area, know that there are only 12 camping sites, and the availability of these sites will vary, especially during the summertime, so consider having a backup campground in mind if these sites happen to be full. Keep in mind that, while the daytime at this access area may be sunny and hot, the nights may be quite windy and chilly, so pack things like cool clothes and sunscreen for the day and plenty of blankets and warm layers for the night.

There are usually no trashcans on BLM-owned lands, so you will need to collect and then dispose of your trash after you leave the land. It's important to keep your BLM campsite clean, not only for the next visitors to the site but also for the sake of keeping the area's animals and environment healthy and free of any excess human waste.

To reach the Green River/Warren Bridge River Access Area from the south, take US Highway 191 from Pinedale for 20 miles until you cross the bridge over the Green River, and the entrance to the access site is 200 yards beyond the bridge on the right. If you are traveling from the north, take US Highway 191 from Bondurant for 21 miles, and the entrance to the access site will be on your left, 200 yards before you reach the bridge over Green River.
