Planning your Topaz Internment Camp BLM trip

You may want to plan a visit to the Topaz Internment Camp Museum in Delta before going to the actual BLM site. The museum has models, videos, media displays, and artifacts designed to show you what daily life was like for Americans of Japanese ancestry at Topaz. None of the people held at Topaz were ever convicted or even charged with a crime, yet were confined, some for four years, in camps surrounded by barbed wire and armed guards. The museum is 16 miles southeast of the BLM site and is open every day except Sundays. The Topaz Internment Camp and the campgrounds in the surrounding area are in an arid environment, so bringing along plenty of water is essential. It is recommended that you have a gallon of water per person available per day. Having a hat and sunscreen to protect your skin is also a good idea. If you plan to take advantage of dispersed camping in the area, it is also necessary to check the local fire regulations beforehand to know if it is okay to have a campfire before setting up camp. Bureau of Land Management campgrounds near the Topaz Internment Camp are located in rural places away from the bustle and noise of city life. They provide a tranquil and secluded camping experience. The campsites also offer a budget-friendly way to enjoy your vacation. However, it takes careful planning to stay comfortable at dispersed campgrounds without amenities.
