Fishing and Boating
Paria River is a popular fishing spot in the area known for its rainbow trout and flannelmouth suckers. Nipple Lake is a little further east and about 30 miles from the city of Kanab. Climbing
Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument is well-known for its exciting climbing challenges. Climb up and around Bull Valley Gorge or the White Cliffs. You should also check out Deer Creek Canyon or any of the other massive canyons and plateaus in the area.
Wildlife Viewing
As you're hiking and climbing through Paria Hackberry 202, keep an eye out for mule deer, pronghorn antelope, elk, and bison. Foxes, weasels, goats, hares, and snakes are also common in the area. If you plan to hike after dark or in a heavily wooded area, watch for mountain lions, black bears, and coyotes.
Picnicking
There are several local picnicking areas, including the Grosvenor Arch Day Use Site and Paria Movie Set Day Use Site. These areas both have public toilets and useful amenities. You can also stop for meals while you're out exploring the land.
Stargazing
The natural landscape of Utah is rugged and dotted with high plateaus and dunes. After spending your day climbing, set your tent out under the stars and enjoy the nebulous glow above you. Being out in the wilderness and away from the city smog allows you to enjoy countless more constellations than ever before.
