Hyatt Lake Recreation Area is also a great place to base camp for exploring the famous Crater Lake National Park. In the summer, Hyatt Lake is a popular destination for fishing, swimming, and camping. The lake is stocked with trout, and there are several hiking trails in the area that offer stunning views of the lake and surrounding mountains. The Little Hyatt Lake Trail starts at the Hyatt Lake Campground and follows the Pacific Crest Trail to Little Hyatt Lake. Hyatt Lake is a 950-acre reservoir renowned for its excellent fishing and boating opportunities. The lake contains a variety of fish species, including rainbow trout, largemouth bass, crappie, bluegill, and brown bullhead catfish. Spring and fall offer optimal fishing conditions due to the mild weather. Boaters can take advantage of multiple conveniently located boat ramps.

Cascade-Siskiyou National Monument is a unique place where three mountain ranges meet. This convergence of ecosystems has created a diverse habitat for a wide variety of wildlife. Deer are the most common large mammal in the monument. They can be seen grazing in meadows, forests, and along roadsides. If you're lucky, you might also spot a bear or a mountain lion. Small mammals such as squirrels, rabbits, and chipmunks are also common. The monument is home to over 200 species of birds, including bald eagles, golden eagles, and hawks.

There are several picnic areas located throughout the recreation area, and there are also a few food vendors located near the lake. Among these options is the renowned Campers Cove Restaurant, which offers a diverse range of culinary options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Hyatt Lake Recreation Area offers RV enthusiasts the option to choose from two exceptional campgrounds, including the main Hyatt Lake Campground and the nearby Wildcat Campground. The Hyatt Lake Campground has a total of 54 sites, most of which can accommodate an RV. The Wildcat Campground, just 2 miles away, provides an additional 12 campsites. Both of these Bureau of Land Management campgrounds are near amenities such as boat launch ramps, a playground, volleyball and basketball courts, and a fishing dock. Free BLM RV camping is available on Bureau of Land Management land at dispersed camping spots located along Hyatt Lake Road, just past the Hyatt Lake Resort. Some of these sites have fire pits, but most do not have any amenities. Be sure to bring your water and pack out all trash. To find free camping spots, drive along Hyatt Lake Road until you see signs for BLM land. There are several pull-offs along the road where you can camp.
