There are 1,200 acres of rolling hills, steep cliffs, and sandy shorelines to explore in the park throughout the year.

Inside Potawatomi State Park

Potawatomi State Park is a great place to go hiking because there are 9 miles of trails to explore. There are also trails that can be used for biking, skiing, and snowmobiling. In the winter, there is even a big snow hill for the kids to enjoy. When the weather is warmer, boating is an activity that is often enjoyed. There is also a fishing pier and a swimming beach to make the most of your time at Sturgeon Bay. 

Outside Potawatomi State Park

Outside of hiking and exploring the park, you will find several activities nearby to enjoy. There are also great seafood restaurants in this area of Wisconsin, so if you like seafood, take advantage of the opportunity. Don't miss the Friday night fish fry that most restaurants have; it's a Wisconsin tradition.

Potawatomi Tower

The Potawatomi Tower is an observation tower on the edge of Potawatomi State Park. The tower is 75 feet tall. From the top of the tower, you can see a panoramic view of the bay below.

The Fiddler’s Farm is a family venue that has live music. They play a variety of music in a barn that is over 100 years old. They also provide music lessons and horseback riding lessons at this location.

Door County Maritime Museum

The Door County Maritime Museum is where you can learn about the history of the Great Lakes. The exhibits will show more about the ships that were seen in the bay in the past. There is a 40-minute tour where you can see a restored tugboat, and there is also a boat building class that visitors can take.

Miller Art Museum

The Miller Art Museum is located on Sturgeon Bay and was founded in 1975. There are fine art exhibits, both historic and contemporary, that can be seen year-round. The second floor has a Gerhard C.F. Miller wing that celebrates the life and work of the Door County artist.

Heritage Village at Big Creek

How to Get to
Potawatomi State Park

From Green Bay, take WI-57 North for about 37 miles until you reach CH-PD (County Highway PD). Turn north on CH-PD, and in about 2.5 miles, you will see the park entrance.

Entering Potawatomi State Park

Potawatomi State Park is open daily from 6:00 a.m. until 11:00 p.m. A Wisconsin state park admission sticker is required for entry into the park.
