Kohler-Andrae State Park is a combination of two adjacent parks on the eastern side of Wisconsin. This 988-acre park is located on the shores of Lake Michigan, which provides visitors with a unique experience when compared to other state parks in Wisconsin. Visitors can enjoy over two miles of sandy beaches as well as open fields and woods to the west of the lake. Lake Michigan provides a special habitat for migratory birds and waterfowl, enabling bird lovers to enjoy over 150 species inside the park’s boundaries.

RV Resorts & Campsites in Kohler-Andrae State Park
There is one campground, Family Campground, within the park which features 137 total sites. Fifty-two of these sites offer electric hookups, while all of them are RV-friendly. The maximum RV length is 50 feet, but each campsite has its own limitations. Make sure to check the RV size limit when reserving your specific campsite. While there are no water or sewer hookups offered at any specific campsite, there is a dump station and water fill-up station within the campground. Visitors can also expect to find a fire ring, picnic table, showers, flush toilets, and laundry facilities in the campground. Dedicated campsites are cleared of snow during the winter months, making them available for winter camping.

Kohler-Andrae State Park
With its close proximity to Lake Michigan, Kohler-Andrae State Park offers unique activities not seen at other parks in the state of Wisconsin. Visitors can enjoy hiking the sand dunes, beachcombing, and swimming in the open waters of Lake Michigan. Hiking, fishing, and bicycling are popular summertime activities, while cross-country skiing and snowshoeing are available in winter.
Fishing
Anglers can head over to the fishing pond off Old Park Road to try and catch their favorite species. This fishing pond is part of Wisconsin’s Urban Fishing Program, so there are specific regulations that need to be followed. A fishing license is required, which you can get online before you arrive.
Geocaching
Geocaching is available in the park, with introductory events throughout the year. GPS units are made available when these events are held if you do not have your own to bring.
Nature Watching
Kohler-Andrae State Park is a nature lover’s paradise. Lake Michigan is a migration corridor for birds during the spring and fall, resulting in more than 150 bird species living in or passing through the park.
Stargazing
The park is far enough away from any major city to enjoy limited light pollution, which makes stargazing a popular activity. The shoreline of Lake Michigan is also a great spot to view your favorite constellations because there are no trees to block your view of the night sky.
Hiking
There are several hiking trails within the park that take you through the woods or along the sandy shore of Lake Michigan. Black River Trail is the longest trail at 2.5 miles. This trail begins at the northwest section of the park and takes you through open fields as well as forested areas.
Swimming
Swimming is allowed in Lake Michigan, but you must use caution as there is no lifeguard on duty.
Biking
Bicycles are allowed on all park roads. Mountain biking is also available on the Black River Trail.
How to Get to
Kohler-Andrae State Park
Kohler-Andrae State Park is located at 1020 Beach Park Ln, Sheboygan, WI 53081. If you are traveling to the park from Port Washington, WI, you will need to take I-43 N until you reach exit 120. When you reach exit 120 for County Rd V/County Rd OK, you will make a right-hand turn onto Co Rd OK. At the next road, take a right-hand turn onto Co Rd V. Continue along Co Rd V for 1.9 miles, where the road will turn into Beach Park Ln. This road will veer to the right and take you into the park.
Entering Kohler-Andrae State Park
The park is open daily from 6 am to 11 pm. When you enter the park, you will pass the park office and come to an intersection. If you take the first left-hand turn, you will head towards a parking area at the north end of the park, which includes the pet beach area. If you continue straight after entering the park, you will reach the Family Campground on your left-hand side. A parking area on the right-hand side of the road also acts as a trailhead for the Black River Marsh Boardwalk Trail. Additional parking areas are found near the fishing pond, beach area, and Sanderling Nature Center.
