is located 22 miles north of Brownwood, Texas, and just 8 miles southeast of Grosvenor, Texas. The park features 6 miles of hiking trails as well as plenty of fishing action on its 6,490-acre lake, which is home to bass, crappie, and catfish. Lake Brownwood State Park is also a great place to Jet Ski, water ski, and canoe. When you're ready to visit, prepare for warm summer temps and mild winter weather.

Lake Brownwood State Park

Inside Lake Brownwood State Park

While the main reason to come to Lake Brownwood State Park may be the fishing, there are many ways to play on the water, including water skiing and canoeing. Many families have enjoyed hosting reunions at the recreation hall with its rooftop balcony. When the weather is warm, take a dip at the swimming beach. This park is also a favorite among many community organizations that hold special events here. During the holidays, the campground in this park is often the host to seasonal activities. 

Outside Lake Brownwood State Park

Brownwood, Cross Plains, Early, and Coleman are small communities that surround this lake. Often, these communities host special events that you will not want to miss. This includes the PRCA Rodeo in Coleman, Cross Plain’s Barbarian Festival, and Brownwood’s Cinco de Mayo activities. Regardless of when you come, however, you can always find great places to dine, shop, and visit.

How to Get to
Lake Brownwood State Park

From Brownwood, Texas, get on U.S. 279 heading northwest. Go 17 miles and turn east on State Park Road 15. You will reach the park in about 6 miles. 

From Bangs, Texas, get on U.S. 67 North/U.S. 84 E. Turn left on FM 1849 and take another left onto TX 279 N. Turn right on State Park Road 15. Drive 6 miles, and you will reach the park. 

Entering Lake Brownwood State Park

Lake Brownwood State Park is open daily from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Passes must be reserved online or by phone prior to your visit.
