The park has over 250 species of birds that can be observed at the bird blind, which overlooks the lake and forest. It's filled with majestic trees and magnificent beauty. Inside Huntsville State Park

With 21 miles of trails in Huntsville State Park, you can lose yourself among the majestic trees and natural beauty. Here, you can have a picnic, swim, study nature, and go bicycling. The petting zoo is terrific for all ages, with ponies, donkeys, ducks, llamas, deer, a cow, and goats. On weekends, they offer pony rides that cost from $75 and up. 

Texas Prison Museum

Just 12 miles outside Huntsville State Park, the Texas Prison Museum offers a fascinating glimpse into the lives of Texas prisoners. Sam Houston National Forest

Sam Houston National Forest is one of the four National Forests in Texas. Located 12 miles from Huntsville State Park, this forest spans over 163,000 acres that stretch across Cleveland, Richards, Conroe, and Huntsville. Wildlife seen here includes squirrels, deer, bald eagles, red-cockaded woodpeckers, small black-and-white woodpeckers, and bluebirds.
