Wells State Park is a lakefront public recreation area located in Cedar River, Michigan. Specifically, the area lies in Menominee County just of M-35, a state trunkline highway that extends along the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Wells State Park is known for its natural beauty, campgrounds, hiking trails, and forested surroundings. The area was first put to use when Sam Crawford purchased it in 1898, and the development of the park began in 1927. In 2002, the state park was added to the National Register of Historic Places. You will find a few cities near Wells State Park, including Stephenson and Wallace in Michigan and Sister Bay in Wisconsin.

How to Get to
Wells State Park
The address of the park is N 7670 Highway, M-35, Cedar River, MI 49887. It is located on the shore of Lake Michigan’s Green Bay at the halfway point between Escanaba and Menominee. If you are coming from Milwaukee, take the I-43 N across Green Bay, where the road becomes highway US-41. Then continue north until the road becomes M-35 and you see the exit at Cedarville Township.
If you are coming from Chicago. The directions are similar, but Chicago is further south than Milwaukee so you start the drive on I-94 N. After a couple of hours driving north, the road becomes I-43 N. From here, simply follow the directions as if you were coming from Milwaukee.

Wells State Park’s hours of operation are 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., Monday to Friday, and 9 a.m. to 10 p.m., Saturday and Sunday.
