Eldon Hazlet State Park in Illinois is located about 7 miles from Carlyle and 9 miles southwest of Keyesport. The town of Greenville is about 20 miles from the state park, making it another ideal area to explore. The park is filled with winding trails, mature oak-hickory trees, and wildlife that call this place home. The campground is located on a 34-acre lush and wooded lot with a private lake. Tomahawk Campground is 5 miles off Interstate 70 in a small town called Pocahontas. The campground has 142 sites that accommodate any RV or camper. All sites have a picnic table and a fire ring.

Inside Eldon Hazlet State Park
Eldon Hazlet State Park has a public swimming pool that is located behind the campground store. The combination of wide-open water, low surrounding terrain, and strong wind provide the right condition to sail across Carlyle Lake. You can take your vessel on the lake as well. The park has more than 50 acres designated for dove, archery deer, and upland game hunting. Other things to do inside the park are hiking, picnicking, fishing, and observing wildlife.

One of the best things about Eldon Hazlet State Park is the abundance of things to do outside of the park. The area outside of Eldon Hazlet State Park is filled with restaurants, shops, and other attractions. Several of these establishments are family-oriented, so there is no need to worry about them not being appropriate for your children.

How to Get to
Eldon Hazlet State Park
From Carlyle, follow Illinois Highway 127 North/12th Street through town. Turn right onto Hazlet State Park Road/County Road 1700 North/Hazlet Park Road, and then follow this for 6.5 miles. Turn left to stay on Hazlet Park Road. Your destination will be on the right.
From Keyesport, head west on W Clinton Street toward Main Street/Porter Street, travel for about 3 miles, and then turn left onto County Road 2000E/Hopewell Road. Continue to follow Hopewell Road, turn right onto Marydale Road, go a short distance, and turn left onto Fisher Road. Travel for approximately 2 miles, and then turn left onto County Road 1700 N/Hazlet Park Road. Turn left to stay on Hazlet Park Road. Your destination will be on the right.
