Carson City, which is officially known as the Consolidated Municipality of Carson City, is the state capital of Nevada and is named after famed mountain man Kit Carson. The beautiful city has a population of around 57,000 and it has been serving as the state's capital since 1864. Originally, the town began as a stopover for immigrants on their way to California, but a silver strike in the nearby mountains helped develop it into a real city.
