Popular Tourist Attractions

Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park

The 5,300-acre battleground has been preserved to commemorate the battle for control of Chattanooga in 1963. It was then called the “Gateway to the Deep South”. Visitors can take a seven-mile auto tour to explore its points of interest. There is also a 3,000-acre battlefield at the Lookout Mountain, where visitors can enjoy long trails, historical markers, and scenic mountaintop views.

Northwest Georgia Trade and Convention Center

Built in 1991, the Northwest Georgia Trade and Convention Center is a multi-purpose venue in Dalton. The venue is home to the Georgia Rampage, a professional Xtreme Indoor Football League and the Georgia Athletic High School Coaches' Hall of Fame.

Dalton Freight Depot

Originally built in 1911 as the southern railway Freight Depot, the Dalton Freight Depot was restored in 2009, and houses a visitor’s’ center, a gift shop, and display cases containing Civil war artifacts. In addition, it features a covered viewing platform, a live audio feed from train radios, live streaming web cam, and an ATCS monitor to allow you to watch approaching trains. A 45-degree rail crossing directly in front of the viewing platform, the “Dalton Diamond” is the perfect place to watch the dual tracks of the Norfolk Southern Railroads and the CSX.
