Dayton Aviation Heritage National Historical Park

Experience when Wilbur and Oliver Wright were first testing their aircraft by visiting the related sites at Dayton Aviation National Historical Park near Dayton, Ohio. Start your visit at the Wright-Dunbar Interpretative Center to learn more about the brothers. Then, head to the Carillon Historical Park, where they flew the first practical airplane, the Wright Flyer III. Stop at the Wright Brothers Cycle Shop to see how they repaired early bicycles for a living. Make your next stop at the Huffman Prairie Interpretative Center and the nearby Huffman Prairie Flying Field. Along the way, you will also learn more about African-American poet Paul Laurence Dunbar, who lived in Daytona.

How To Get To Dayton Aviation Heritage National Historical Park

Consider starting your visit to Dayton Aviation Heritage National Park at the Huffman Prairie Interpretive Center. Access this location by taking Exit 54B off Interstate 75. Follow the signs to get on Ohio 4 North. Take the Wright Patterson Air Force Base Area a-C exit. Merge onto Ohio 444 North. Turn right on Kaufman Road and right on Memorial Road. The center will be on your left. Note that access to this location is restricted because it is on the Air Force Base. You may need to show a state-issued identification card, such as your driver's license or a valid passport.
