The Utah State Fair is a fun and family-friendly experience held each year at the Utah State Fairpark in the capital of Salt Lake City starting on the Thursday following Labor Day. Ever since the fair first began back in 1856, it's been a source of joy and local culture to Utahns. Rides, attractions, performances, and plenty of delicious food all come together to make for a great way to start autumn.
Download the free Utah State Fair app from the App Store to stay updated on the event. You can also enter your email address and click the "SIGN UP!" button at the bottom right of the homepage to get regular updates sent to your inbox.
Specific events and attractions for the 2025 fair are still being finalized; check back periodically for the fair's schedule. However, you can most likely expect similar activities and entertainment options from previous fairs.
For example, you can expect typical children's carnival rides like the Giant Yellow Slide and the Merry-Go-Round, with other rides more suited for bigger kids and adults. Check out all the cute baby animals at the Barnyard Friends buildings. Arena events might include everything from a rodeo to a demolition derby to a full-contact knight joust. There may also be a monster truck rally.
Of course, you can also expect there to be lots of food options, ranging from fried delicacies to sandwiches and pizza to sodas and ice cream.
If you have a service animal, you can bring it to the fair. Your dog must be on a leash at all times. Otherwise, all other pets are not permitted.
If you wish to rent an electric riding scooter, you can do so inside Gate "Y", which is located at the north end of the Fairpark.
Guests who need first-aid services while at the fair can head to the Guest Services Building, located on the north side of the Fairpark and just east of the Zion building.
The Fairpark also has a Mothers Comfort room inside the Guest Services Building located on the north side of the Fairpark just east of the Zion building.
