Durham County Fair
This year marks the 105th Durham Fair in Connecticut. It takes place over four days in late September. Come visit the Durham Fair, and you’ll see what a real fair is all about — with live entertainment on four stages, thrilling motorized events, rides and games on the Midway, and first-class animal competitions.
Millers Pond State Park is right in Durham. That means that you can easily explore the park's hiking and biking trails and fish in the 33-acre Millers Pond.
The Wallingford Rest Area on Route 91 is a nearby dump station for your RV. It's open April 30 until Nov. 1 every year, so it's the most convenient for you during the Durham Fair.
ACTIVITIES & ENTERTAINMENT
Although no specific activities or entertainment are listed so far on the fair's website, if it follows the same pattern as years past, there will be concerts by well-known musicians, monster truck rallies, and demolition derbies or similar events.
In the livestock area, you'll be able to meet animals like llamas and rabbits as well as the more typical farm critters like cattle and goats. You can attend seminars to learn more about topics like farming and garden care and tour the Farm Museum to learn how people in this part of Connecticut lived over 100 years ago. You may also be able to sample some locally brewed beer and cider. Children can enjoy the Kid's Place, a mini fairground with petting zoos, bubble stations, and live entertainment on a special stage.
ON-SITE AMENITIES
The Durham Fair provides access to first-aid stations, information booths, a lost and found, a system for finding children who get separated from their parents or guardians, and a shuttle service that can take you to various places around the fairgrounds. There will also be exhibit halls and a discovery center.
LOCATION
The Durham Fair's street address is 24 Town House Road, Durham, CT, 06422. The venue is in the middle of farm country, so if it rains, then the ground is liable to be muddy. In that case, it might be good to leave the RV at your campsite and find another way to the fair.

RVING AT THE EVENT
There are no campsites for RVs at the Durham Fair, but you can find several options nearby. The Aces High RV Park is one of them. The park offers a saltwater pool, two bathhouses for hot showers, laundry facilities, full restrooms, and full hookups.
The Wolf's Den Family Campground provides many sports-related amenities, including bocce, miniature golf, volleyball, pickleball, and horseshoes. There's a playground for children and an arcade for video game enthusiasts of all ages. The campsites have all hookups except for sewer. A dump station is available.
WHERE TO STAY
You can find a bed-and-breakfast or hotel for your stay in the Durham area. The Bevin House is just 16 miles from Durham, and the home in which it operates was built in 1872. The whole place oozes Victorian charm, and the location is bucolic and quiet.
If you prefer a traditional hotel, the Inn at Middletown, which is 7 miles from Durham, combines a colonial feel with modern amenities to please you. It's a pet-friendly hotel, which is convenient if you're traveling with furry family members. The hotel has a fitness center and restaurant on-site, and you can select one of the seasonal packages for your stay during the Durham Fair.
HOW TO GET THERE
From New York City: Follow Route 95 east to New Haven, CT. From there, take Route 91 north-northeast to the interchange with Route 68. Proceed east on Route 68, which will take you right into Durham.
From Providence, RI: Take Route 95 west out of the city. Proceed to the interchange with Route 9 in Old Lyme, CT. Follow Route 9 north to Candlewood Hill Road in Higganum. Take Candlewood Hill Road southwest. Eventually, it will become Higganum Road. Follow that to Durham.
PARKING
Parking at the Durham Fair costs $5 per day per vehicle. The fair relies on municipal lots that partner with its organizers. The website will provide an updated map of where these lots are.
TICKETS & PRICING
Durham Fair ticket prices start at $10, with packages and discounts available for children, seniors, and military.
