There’s a lot to see in Connecticut and its surrounding areas, but one truly unique way to experience the region is by visiting a county fair. See the animals they raise and farm, learn about the produce that can be grown, taste the foods that are popular, and admire the arts and crafts people in the area have painstakingly created. The Durham County Fair is a fun, personal way to get to know the people who live there and to learn about their experiences. This is the 104th year of the fair, so you know a trip to see it will be something special!

ACTIVITIES & ENTERTAINMENT

There’s so much to do at the Durham County Fair! There are, of course, cattle, goats, rabbits, llamas, and other animals to visit in the livestock area. You can watch the process as fiber experts take fleece and turn it into yarn. There’s even an animal costume parade. Attend a seminar on food, farming, garden care, or other topics. Take the kids to the Grandpa’s Golden Rule puppet show, visit the Kid’s Place - a mini-fairground designed just for little ones with balloon-stomp competitions, bubble stations, and petting zoos. Or see a concert or magic show at the Kid’s Stage.

Step into the Farm Museum to learn what life was like for locals over a hundred years ago. And when you need to cool off and relax, head over to some beer and cider tasting, featuring drinks that were brewed right in Connecticut.

You can also visit the Midway, to experience the rides and play the carnival games. You can purchase wristbands for $(TBA)(depending on if you want to ride the roller coaster), or purchase individual tickets - 25 for $(TBA) or 40 for $(TBA) - during the entire fair. If you don’t want to purchase that many tickets, you can also buy them for $(TBA) a piece.

ON-SITE AMENITIES

There are plenty of amenities on-site at the fair. Restrooms and portable toilets are available throughout, including some with baby changing stations. Emergency medical services and police are also on-site, and there are charging stations and water filling stations to keep you hydrated.
