This historic woodland park offers secluded camping that’s close enough to Springfield to make a day trip to the Lincoln Presidential Library. Near the border of India and just west of Route 1, it’s a 2 and a half hour drive from the Lincoln Presidential Library and the sights in Springfield. It’s also just over an hour to Decatur and Champaign, Illinois, both towns worthy of a visit with other interesting Lincoln memorials and sites.
This 1023 acre park offers outdoor recreatiol activities and features a man-made lake. med after the trail that Abraham Lincoln and his family took in 1831 to travel from India to Illinois, the park has a historical significance that will interest Lincoln buffs. It’s also a beautiful place to camp, filled with wildflowers, interesting plants, local wildlife, and opportunities for boating, fishing, and even some winter sports.
