Turn in Your Tent! Give RVing a Try

Renting an RV

At RVshare, we love camping in any form, and we just want to see more people get outside and enjoy all the benefits that nature has to offer. But our preferred camping method is, you guessed it, RVing! RVing is tent camping amplified – you still get to disconnect and spend time soaking up the outdoors and spending time with loved ones, all while enjoying the comforts of home that a tent just can’t offer. Kitchen on board? Check! Cozy bed, comfy sofa, and bathroom? Check, check, and check! The beauty of RV camping is you can cook a 5 star breakfast and then step outside and hit the hiking trail! After a long day of exploring the family can settle in around the campfire and share their favorite parts of the day, then retreat to the AC and a soft bed.

Because we’re so confident the RV life is for you, we’ve teamed up with Gear Forward to help you turn in your tent and get credit toward renting an RV! Gear Forward is all about providing the next generation of stewards, adventurers, Scoutmasters, and Girl Scout Leaders the resources they need to get outdoors. They believe no child should be denied access to all the outdoors has to offer because they don’t have the necessary equipment. Through the collection of gently used outdoor gear and partnerships with amazing gear manufacturers and retailers, Gear Forward works with outdoor-focused non-profit organizations to get donated gear into the hands of youth that need it.

Gear Forward began in late 2015 and was the creation of Scott Gauvin, a former outdoor blogger and Eagle Scout who wanted to donate some of the large amounts of gear he had accumulated during his tenure as an avid outdoor gear tester and reviewer.

We’re thrilled to help facilitate getting tents into the hands of campers who need them, while getting to share the RV experience with people like you! Own a tent but realize tent camping isn’t for you? Or maybe you are looking to simply upgrade your camping set-up and donate your beloved tent for someone else to enjoy. RVshare’s ‘Turn In Your Tent’ program allows campers to donate their gently-used tent in exchange for an RV experience. After donating your tent to Gear Forward you’ll receive a $250 credit towards an RV rental on RVshare.

How it Works

  1. Submit your information on the Turn in Your Tent page.
  2. You will be emailed a prepaid UPS shipping label.
  3. Take your tent to a nearby UPS location to ship it to Gear Forward.
  4. Once the tent is received by Gear Foward, RVshare will send your RVshare rental credit via email to be used on a future booking.

Why RVing?

We mentioned several reasons why RVing is our favorite way to travel above, but here are a few more!

Travel Freedom

Unlike a package vacation, you can wake up in the morning and decide where you feel like traveling that day. Want to head out on the road? Done! Did you discover an awesome campground or a secluded boondocking spot and want to stay longer? Up to you! While you may have some constraints when it comes to reservations during peak travel times at popular RV resorts, if you’re willing to head off the beaten path you can pack up and go on a whim.

Self-Contained

If the past year taught us anything, it’s that crowds aren’t always our friend. RVs allow for a self-contained way to travel. Avoid crowded airports, hotels, and restaurants when you can travel, sleep, and cook on board your RV.

Make New Friends!

RVers are a friendly bunch, and we can guarantee that you’ll meet some new friends at your campsite. If you’re new to RVing, veterans will happily show you the ropes and offer tips so you can look like an old pro in no time.

Quality Family Time

There’s no better way to connect with your family than by experiencing an adventure together! Plan your trip ahead of time together so everyone gets to see something that they are excited about. You will make memories to last a lifetime!

See the Country

When you drive across the country you get to see so much more than you would on a plane. Stop at quirky roadside attractions, find the best hidden gem restaurants, and just enjoy the beauty of taking your time.

Soak up Nature

Stretch your legs, breathe in the fresh air, and simply appreciate the beauty of nature all around us. RV camping gives you a front row seat to many of the things we take for granted – warm sun shining down, a canopy of lush trees, sand beneath our feet.

Renting an RV is the perfect way to experience the lifestyle without commiting to a big purchase. Whether you’re ready to part ways with your beloved tent or just want to give a different kind of camping a try, an RV rental is for you!
