This Custer National Forest trail climbs 300 feet over a few miles at a gentle 2% to 7% grade. It is a one-way trail, so plan to return the way you came.

Taylor Creek Trail

Another point-to-point trail in Custer National Forest, this trail changes elevation by about 650 feet. The max grade is 15%, but there are long, flat areas to rest between steep sections.

This area is home to a scenic boat launch, which can accommodate nearly any size watercraft that you may have in your possession. Climbers are encouraged to use caution when climbing, as the rocks are steep and unstable.

The nearest gas station is found in Moorhead, which is about 20 miles away from this location. Moorhead Recreation Site is located at the intersection of Moorhead Road and County Rd. 17A in Whatcom County, WA, just a few miles south of Birch Bay. Visitors who travel to this area can access the site by taking SR-11/SR-516 west until they reach milepost 33, turning onto county road 17A. Visitors should follow this road for a few miles before turning right onto Moorhead Rd and following the signs to the recreation site.
