Escalante Petrified Forest State Park Campgrounds

Inside Escalante Petrified Forest State Park

Once you've set up camp, head straight for the petrified forest. With its massive stone trees, it offers a fascinating glimpse of the past. The park's visitor center is a great place to learn about the local area and check out more fossils. Down by the park's reservoir, the Floatwerks company offers kayaks, canoes, and paddleboard rentals in the park during the summer months. Bring your fishing gear because the lake is stocked with bluegill and rainbow trout.

Escalante Petrified Forest State Park

Escalante Petrified Forest State Park sits just off of Highway 12. You can access it easily from the east or the west; just turn north on Reservoir Road west of Escalante.

Entering Escalante Petrified Forest State Park

Escalante Petrified Forest State Park is open every day, with the exception of Christmas and New Year's Day. In the summer, the park hours are 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.; in the winter, the hours are 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.
