- Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park
Three unique factors converge at Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park to create a magical place that you can explore on foot or in an ATV. First, sand comes off the Navajo sandstone. Then, it is picked up by ferocious winds that funnel between the Moquith and Moccasin mountains. Once the sand is over the park, the wind loses its strength, and the sand is deposited. The process has been going on for more than 15,000 years, but the Coral Pink Sand Dunes has only been a state park since 1963. See the dunes for yourself at this park, which is located 20 miles west of Kanab, 15 miles south of Mt. Carmel Junction, and 27 miles southeast of Zion National Park.
