Sizerville State Park

is made up of 386 acres in Emporium, Pennsylvania. It is surrounded by the Elk State Forest and is part of the Pennsylvania Wilds, which offers 2 million acres of public land. The park’s name comes from the Sizer family, who were the first settlers in the area. This state park also holds an annual Autumn Festival to celebrate local food, skills and pioneer crafts. The Pennsylvania cities nearby include Saint Marys, Smethport, and Port Allegany.

Inside Sizerville State Park

Sizerville State Park offers an abundance of activities for families. It has a 105-foot-long pool with an adjacent wading pool. Other activities include fishing, eating at the picnic tables and sitting at the pavilions. This state park also has an environmental educator on-site to answer questions. The Elk State Forest surrounds Sizerville State Park, which allows for exploring public lands.

The Wildlife Center is a tourist attraction that is in the Pennsylvania Wilds center. It has state-of-the-art interpretive exhibits and opportunities to view wildlife. The Wildlife Center is 9,300 square feet and has an artisan gallery.

Bendigo State Park

Bendigo State Park is a 100-acre park in a valley surrounded by hills. You can go swimming, hiking, fishing, kayaking and enjoy the views. It is also made up of 80 acres of underdeveloped woodlands of maple, beech, birch and cherry trees.

Decker’s Chapel

Decker’s Chapel is a historic site and known for being one of the smallest churches with a measurement of 12 feet by 18 feet. Michael Decker built the chapel after healing from an injury.

Umbrella Rocks

Umbrella Rocks is a unique rock formation in Western Pennsylvania. It is skinny at the base and gets wide and round at the top like an umbrella. The rock formation emerges from the ground and attracts a lot of visitors.

How to Get to
Sizerville State Park

If you are coming from Potter County, Pennsylvania, then you should head northeast towards PA-44 S. Next, you want to take PA-872 S to Upper Bark Shanty Road. The Upper Bark Shanty road continues to PA-607 N. Your next turn is PA-155 to Hemlock Road, and then drive on to E Cowley Run Road. You should see Sizerville State Park.
