Spend a fun day in the countryside along Lake Hudson in northeast Oklahoma, where the fish are biting and the scenery is breathtaking. Among the terrific outdoor activities you can enjoy are hiking, kayaking, paddleboating, boating, picnicking, swimming, fishing, nature and wildlife watching, camping, and volleyball. The state park is near the Ozark Mountains. Lake Hudson is 12,000 acres and has up to 200 miles of shoreline. Guests can visit the local attractions close to the state park, including the Rural Oklahoma Museum of Poetry, the Magic Showplace Theater and Rabbit-in-the-Hat Magic Shop, and Rocklahoma.

RV Resorts & Campsites in Snowdale State Park
Snowdale State Park Campground has 18 camping spots for RVs with water; 20-, 30-, and 50-amp electric hookups; grills; lanterns; and fire rings. These back-in sites can fit RVs up to 50 feet long. There are also 70 primitive sites. The campground features potable water, showers, restrooms, a dump station and a playground. Pets are welcome. Guests can use generators at the campground but not during quiet hours, which are from 11:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.
What to Do at
Snowdale State Park
Guests can have epic adventures at Snowdale State Park with a plentiful selection of activities, including all-day fishing and boating. Visitors can spend the day on the swimming beach, enjoy the warm water, host a picnic, or take in the scenery. Hiking along the trails and viewing wildlife and nature is popular among park visitors, and you can find many vantage points throughout the park. As of 2023, an on-site vendor is not renting boats or other equipment; however, outside vessels and equipment are permitted at the park.
Fishing
Fish from the lakeshore or on a boat, launching your boat from the on-site ramp. You can fish for crappie, striped bass, white bass, sunfish and largemouth bass. Outside boats are allowed on Lake Hudson, but you must have a valid Oklahoma fishing license.
Nature Watching
You'll find many bird species in the park, including American avocets, American crows, goldfinches, kestrels, robins, tree sparrows, bald eagles, white pelicans, barn owls, black-capped vireos, blue jays, Brewer's blackbirds, brown creepers, brown thrashers, canvasback ducks and Carolina chickadees.
Stargazing
Guests staying at Snowdale State Park can stargaze from the campground or along the shores of Lake Hudson. You can see stars, constellations and the moon on clear nights. Guests can bring binoculars or a telescope to view the planets.
Flora and Fauna
The flora in the state park includes Indian blanket, green antelopehorn milkweed, purple coneflower, blue false indigo, tickseed, mealycup sage and Arkansas blue star. Among the wildlife you'll find in the park are coyotes, bison, waterfowl, squirrels, white-tailed deer, turkeys, beavers, badgers, brown bats, black bears, black-tailed jackrabbits, black-tailed prairie dogs, bobcats, eastern chipmunks, eastern cottontail rabbits, eastern moles, spotted skunks and gray foxes.
Hiking
You can hike the Pryor Creek Nature Trail, which spans 3 miles and provides beautiful and scenic views. Guests will see wildlife and trees throughout the area. Oakwood Road and Elliot Road offer access points to the hiking trail.
Boating
The park offers well-lit boat launches, and guests can use motorized boats on Lake Hudson. All motorized boats must have proper registration, and operators must have a valid boating license. You can also use kayaks, paddleboats and canoes on Lake Hudson.
Swimming
Snowdale State Park has a beach area where you can swim in Lake Hudson. Visitors swim at their own risk as there isn't a lifeguard on duty at the park.
Biking
Visitors can ride mountain bikes on the hiking trails. Pay attention to posted signs during the off-season.
How to Get to
Snowdale State Park
Travel west on OK-20 West/West Ferry Street toward South Commerce Street. Turn right onto South 439. Take the next right, and you'll see the state park entrance on your left.
Entering Snowdale State Park
Visitors enter the state park on foot after parking in the lot just outside the entrance. There is handicapped parking available. The park has a comfort station and shared picnic shelters open to day-use guests. Alcoholic beverages are permitted for campers, but any beverage exceeding 3.2% alcohol according to the bottle weight is prohibited. Consumption of alcoholic beverages by parties under 21 is not allowed. Snowdale State Park is open 24 hours a day and year-round.

Late spring and early summer are the best times to visit. However, if you want to avoid crowds, you should visit in the early fall. The summer months are the best for swimming as Lake Hudson is warmer.

You are not required to reserve a camping spot at Snowdale State Park, but it is highly recommended since the campground reaches maximum capacity quickly during the summer. Campers can contact the park office to reserve their camping spot. The rates range from $14 to $30 per night.
Yes, Snowdale State Park is pet-friendly, but you must keep your pets on a leash no longer than 6 feet. All guests must clean up after their pets and handle all pet-related waste. Pets are not allowed in public buildings or state park facilities. Park officials will ask campers to leave if their pets are too noisy during quiet hours.
