Hugo Lake State Park is located in southeastern Oklahoma's Choctaw County. Its centerpiece is the man-made lake that was created by damming a portion of the Kiamichi River. The dam's main purpose was to provide flood control and water storage, but it has evolved into a wonderful recreational area where visitors can enjoy camping, hiking, and a variety of water sports. The park itself encompasses 289 acres, while the lake offers 110 miles of shoreline.

RV Resorts & Campsites in Hugo Lake State Park
Three pet-friendly campgrounds in Hugo Lake State Park can accommodate large RVs up to 60 feet in length. This includes Virgil Point Campground, which is open from April through September and has 51 campsites. These sites have water and electric hookups, along with picnic tables and grills. Kiamichi Park Campground and Group Camp offer 78 campsites. Some feature water and electric hookups. Amenities include flush toilets, showers, and a dump station. Those looking for basic campsites will want to check out Rattan Landing Campground. The 13 sites here have electric hookups, and two vault toilets are nearby.
What to Do at
Hugo Lake State Park
The lake at Hugo Lake State Park provides guests with the perfect location for fishing, swimming, and boating. On land, you'll discover plenty of hiking trails that travel along the water or into the surrounding forest. In addition, equestrian camping is available, and horseback riding is popular at the park. Regardless of how you decide to experience this outdoor recreation area, you'll appreciate picnicking with scenic views of the lake and a tree-filled backdrop.
Fishing
You can fish by boat or from the shoreline while visiting Hugo Lake State Park. There are no docks or fishing piers, but you'll find plenty of room along the banks of the lake to cast your line. Crappies, catfish, and bass are all common catches. You'll need a valid Oklahoma fishing license to participate in this activity, which you can get online before you arrive.

Boating
Motorized and nonmotorized boats are allowed on the park's Hugo Lake. The water near the dam is best for speed boats and water skiing as there are few obstructions. The upper portion of the lake has marked boat lanes so you can avoid obstacles. Canoeing and kayaking are also popular on the lake.
Swimming
Hugo Lake State Park has three sandy beaches with designated swimming areas. With so many miles of shoreline, there are several non-designated swimming areas too. You should be aware that no lifeguards are on duty, so it is a swim at your own risk area.
How to Get to
Hugo Lake State Park
Hugo Lake State Park is only eleven minutes from Hugo, OK. Head east on E Jackson Street toward 4th Street. Turn left on US-70 East. In 5.6 miles, turn left on N 4300 Road. After 100 feet, the park entrance will be on your right.
Entering Hugo Lake State Park
Each of the campgrounds and recreational areas in Hugo Lake State Park have parking lots. Roads within the park are paved and easily navigated. The park is open 24 hours, but quiet hours are from 10 pm to 6 am.
