White Lake State Park is a 902-acre natural wonderland located close to the historic small town of Tamworth, New Hampshire. The park completely surrounds White Lake, which is a 125-acre glacial lake. The lake’s basin was carved by a glacier during the Ice Age. Established in 1933, White Lake State Park is home to a large pitch pine stand. This stand was named a National Natural Landmark in 1980.

RV Resorts & Campsites in White Lake State Park
White Lake State Park has two campgrounds, Area 1 and Area 2. Area 1 is located west of the main park road, and Area 2 is to the east. There are 193 campsites across these two campgrounds, and some are reserved for tents only. The maximum RV length is 38 feet. Restrooms are available in both camping areas, and one bathhouse is available at the park's entrance. There is a small playing field is accessible via Area 1, and a larger playing field is in the center of Area 2. Hookups are not available at any campsites at White Lake State Park, but several water spigots are available for communal use. A dump station is available at the front of the park for registered campers. Many areas of the park are accessible, including restroom facilities and some campsites. Cell phone service is limited, and wireless internet access is not available.

White Lake State Park
White Lake sits in the middle of the state park, making it a focal point for visitors to enjoy. From fishing to swimming and boating, White Lake offers great opportunities for fun on the water. White Lake State Park is open year-round, and its land activities include winter sports, camping, hiking and picnicking.
Fishing
Fishing is a popular activity during the warmer months of the year. White Lake is suitable for fishing for bullhead, golden shiner, trout and largemouth bass. Anglers can fish from the shore or from a non-motorized boat rented from the park's store.
Nature Watching
Throughout White Lake State Park, the grounds and lake are teeming with wildlife. Bears, hawks, chipmunks, squirrels, juncos, raccoons, beavers, blue jays, king fishers, bullfrogs, toads, snakes and loons are some of the native species. Cranberries, holly, sedge, juniper, lily of the valley and other plants can be found throughout the area as well.
Hiking
The beach area at White Lake State Park is accessible via short scenic trails from both camping areas. These trails are also suitable for bicycles.
Boating
White Lake does not have a public boat ramp. However, non-motorized watercraft are available for rent through the park store. This store is located between the parking lot and the beach in the swimming area.
Swimming
The clear, crisp waters of White Lake are refreshing on warm summer days. The park’s large swimming area features a sandy beach, a parking lot for day visitors, hiking trail accessibility, a bathhouse and other nearby amenities. Lifeguards may not be on duty at all times.
How to Get to
White Lake State Park
White Lake State Park is located just outside of Tamworth, and it is easy to reach from both Interstate 93 and Interstate 95. From I-93, follow Route 113 east. This road connects to Route 16 North. From I-95, you can reach Route 16 North directly. On Route 16 North, you will see road signs for White Lake State Park.
Entering White Lake State Park
White Lake State Park has a parking area near the front office and shower building. There is another, larger parking lot close to the beach. This parking lot is also near a store, a group shelter and a bathhouse. Accessible parking is available in both parking areas. The park is open between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. for day use.

Frequently Asked Questions About White Lake State Park
White Lake State Park is open throughout the year and offers some winter recreational activities. The peak season, however, is in the summer when the weather is ideal for lake activities. Winter visitors should use the park with caution, as some areas are not maintained during this season.
Both the land and water at White Lake State Park provide a native habitat for many species These include common water snakes, loons, garter snakes, mallards, toads, bullfrogs, red squirrels, kingfishers, blue jays, beavers, raccoons, juncos, chipmunks, hawks, bears and others.
None of the camping spaces in White Lake State Park are designed for RV use only. However, select sites are only suitable for tent camping.
Reservations are available but not required to camp at White Lake Park, and they can be made up to 11 months in advance. The reservation fee is $6.50. Because the park is extremely popular during the peak season, both camping and day-use reservations are recommended.
Pets are not allowed in any areas of White Lake State Park.
