Eleven Mile State Park is the home of the Eleven Mile Reservoir, a 7,622-acre lake that is a popular site for dedicated anglers. This reservoir is one of Colorado's largest human-made lakes and has over 325 campsites, miles of hiking and biking trails, and plenty of opportunities for boating activities. The park is an hour west of Colorado Springs and Manitou Springs and is next to Pikes Peak, which makes it an ideal location for visiting Colorado Springs, the Rocky Mountains, and the Pikes Peak area on your next RV trip.

Inside Eleven Mile State Park

There is no end to the fun you can have at Eleven Mile State Park. You can hunt and fish as permitted per season, and there are many outdoor opportunities like bird-watching, boating, ice skating, snowshoeing, hiking, biking, and numerous other sporting and recreational activities. You can rent some of the equipment for these outings at the park. Ice fishing is popular in the winter, and duck hunting attracts many hunters in the fall.

Pikes Peak is a famous landmark mountain that is 14,115 feet in elevation. It is 44 miles from Eleven Mile State Park but can be seen from the park on most days. People come from miles around to hike or drive along the mountain or ride the railway through the Pike National Forest. You can access Pikes Peak from Manitou Springs, which is just west of Colorado Springs.

The world's highest suspension bridge is located in Royal Gorge. It is west of Canon City and is 35 miles south of Eleven Mile State Park. You can get wonderful views of the Arkansas River 1,000 feet below while driving across the bridge.

You will be amazed at the number of fossils you can find here in the Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument, which is located 18 miles from the state park. It's not just a fossil bed; this area has forests, meadows, wildflowers, and many different species of wildlife to view.

You will enjoy taking a tour at the Mollie Kathleen Gold Mine, one of the first claims in the Cripple Creek Gold Camp. The Cressen Gold Mine is still operating today. ​

How to Get to
Eleven Mile State Park

From Canon City, you will drive 10 miles west on U.S. 50 to County Highway 9. Turn north on County Highway 9 and drive 22 miles to County Road 59. Turn back north on County Road 59 and drive 20 miles to the park.

From Colorado Springs, you will drive 38 miles west of the city on U.S. 24 to the town of Lake George and then turn left to head south on County Road 90. Drive for 6 miles to County Road 92. You will continue south on 92 for 5 miles to the park.

Entering Eleven Mile State Park

The park is open from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. for day use. The office is open Friday through Tuesday from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and is closed on Wednesdays and Thursdays.
