Deep in the heart of the Simcoe Mountains lies Brooks Memorial State Park. It is 682 acres of wooded refuge and features cabins sprinkled throughout the site for campers. The park is located in the city of Goldendale, Washington, with the two closest cities being Klickikat and Wishram. Points of interest at Brooks Memorial State Park include a monument dedicated to Nelson B. Brooks, and not too far from the park lies a replica of Stonehenge.

Peach Beach Camp Park
Getting its name from the dozens of peach trees residing on the site, Peach Beach Camp Park is right off of the Columbia River. Campers will love the views of the lagoon at sunset, and the quiet stillness found here. Activities include kiteboarding, wine tasting, swimming, and windsurfing. Don't forget to bring your fishing poles because the water is filled with all types of species, including bass and walleye. Nightly rates differ depending on the type of RV you have. For standard RVs, back-in only rates are $40 a night. For those with larger RVs, the rates are $45 nightly. Each site allows a maximum of six people, and quiet time runs from 10 p.m. until 6 a.m. Features of the park include:

Rufus RV Park
Located in Rufus, Oregon, which is about 25 minutes away from Goldendale, Rufus RV Park is another place that campers may want to consider when they are in the area. Rates are very affordable here; nightly stays cost $35, and weekly rates can run up to $210. Monthly rates range from $450 to $525. When staying here for longer periods of time, water, sewer, and Wi-Fi are free, but the electricity costs are metered. This RV park is also located off of the Columbia River, so there are tons of activities to choose from, including fishing, hiking, windsurfing, and picnicking. Additionally, there are lots of other sites to visit in the general vicinity. Features of the park include:

Brooks Memorial State Park is a great location for campers to spend a day hiking, searching out the Nelson B. Brooks monument, or taking a ride on the equestrian trail. Other activities include mountain biking and bird-watching. During the summer, wildflowers are in full bloom here.
How to Get to
Brooks Memorial State Park
If you're driving on I-90, take Exit 110. Keep driving until you get to Exit 37 and see signs that say Goldendale on Route 97. Follow Route 97 until you see the park.

Hours at Brooks Memorial State Park are from 8 a.m. until dusk. The park is closed from November until March.

Frequently Asked Questions About Brooks Memorial State Park
RV campers are welcome to park in one of the available 23 full-hookup sites. However, water is only available from April to October. Also, a restroom and two places to shower are available. A dump station is available as well.
Although reservations are not mandatory, they are strongly recommended. Prices vary by season. You can expect to pay $35 for a full-hookup site during the months of winter. Peak season rates, between May and September, are between $40 and $50.
When visiting Brooks Memorial State Park, pets are welcome but must remain leashed at all times. If you plan on renting a cabin, your animals are only allowed in designated pet-friendly accommodations.
The best times of year to visit Brooks Memorial State Park are winter, spring, and autumn. Since this is a high desert location, summer's daytime temperatures reach over 100 degrees. Shade is limited as well.
The wildlife at Brooks Memorial State Park includes bears, deer, coyotes, bobcats, elk, and raccoons. Avid bird-watchers can view hawks, ducks, woodpeckers, owls, and quails. Trout are found in the water as well.
