Lake Anna State Park is along one of Virginia’s most popular lakes. There’s a fishing pond that’s accessible to children and the disabled, a bathhouse and concessions area, and a boat launch. Stop by the Visitor Center to see exhibits on the history of the area’s gold mining, and learn about the park’s natural features. There are gold panning programs, and guided tours of the Goodwin Gold Mine.

There are lots of things to do at Lake Anna State Park. From water fun to other outdoor activities for all ages, here are some of the things you might want to try:
Hiking: The park has 11 trails that total more than 15 miles. The trails pass through moderate terrain including mixed hardwood and pine forest. Almost all of the trails are rated “easy,” but there are a few more difficult paths as well.
Swimming: There is a swim beach with a lifeguard that is open from Memorial Day to Labor Day. There is a snack bar and bathhouse next to the beach area.
Fishing: Lake Anna is home to largemouth bass, crappie, and bream. There is a variety of other freshwater fish that might be caught as well. A 2-acre fishing pond for children and disabled people only is near the visitor center. There is a public boat launch, and many places for bank fishing as well.
Gold panning: At certain times, ranger-led gold panning events take place at the park. Learn about the history of gold in Virginia and learn to work a pan. Then...try your hand and see if you strike gold!
How to Get to
Lake Anna State Park
From I-95: Take Eit 118 at Thornburg and head about four miles on Rt. 606. At Snell, continue through the traffic light on Rt. 208. Stay on Rt. 208 W for 2 miles. At the stop light, continue straight for a short distance to another stoplight. Turn left onto Courthouse Rd. (Rt. 208 W). Continue on Rt. 208 through the stoplight at Spotsylvania High School. In 8 miles turn right onto Rt. 601 Lawyers Rd. and drive 3 miles. You’ll see the sign for the park on your left.
From I-64: Take Exit 143 at Ferncliff and stay on Rt. 208 E for six miles. Go through Louisa and continue five more miles on 208 E to Mineral. Turn left at the traffic light, crossing the railroad tracks. Take an immediate left onto Rt. 522 N and stay on the road for six miles to the intersection just before Dickinson Store. Take a right onto New Bridge Rd. and travel eight miles. Cross a bridge, and when you get to Rt. 601 (Lawyers Rd), turn left and go three miles. The sign for the park will be on your left.
From west on I-64: Take Exit 159 at Gum Springs. Take Rt. 522 N for 11 miles until you reach the village of Cuckoo. Stay on Rt. 522 until you reach Mineral. Turn right at the traffic light, crossing the railroad tracks. Take an immediate left onto Rt. 522 N and stay on the road for six miles to the intersection just before Dickinson Store. Take a right onto New Bridge Rd. and travel eight miles. Cross a bridge, and when you get to Rt. 601 (Lawyers Rd), turn left and go three miles. The sign for the park will be on your left.

Entering Lake Anna State Park
There is an entrance fee of $7 per vehicle to visit the park. On weekends from April-October the entrance fee is $10.
