This human-made reservoir is a beautiful body of water set inside a natural paradise. The park itself offers much to see and do, and it is also close to many landmarks and sites of interest like Pikes Peak, the Rocky Mountains, the Garden of the Gods, Colorado Springs, and Denver. Birdwatching is a favorite activity, and there are several endangered species of birds that make this park their home. Bald eagles even nest here in the winter. The night sky is clear and brilliant with little light pollution, so it's a popular spot for stargazing as well.

Haggard's RV Campground
Haggard's RV Campground is just minutes to the west of downtown Pueblo. This is a small and quiet RV park in a flat, remote area, and you can see the Rocky Mountains to the west. You will love the peaceful setting of the park, and the owners are friendly and helpful. The park is conveniently located right off Highway 50.

Pikes Peak RV Park
Pikes Peak RV Park is located a few miles north of Pueblo. The park is small and intimate, and it is conveniently near Pikes Peak, Red Rock Canyon Open Space, the Manitou Cliff Dwellings, Old Colorado City and the city of Manitou Springs. Some of the sites are next to the creek that runs through the park. Sites on the other side of the park are next to a walking trail, and you can see great views of Pikes Peak from the trail and your site. You will also often see various wildlife such as deer, ducks and beavers.

Pueblo KOA Journey
Pueblo KOA Journey is a great KOA park that caters to families. The park itself offers great views of the mountains, and there are plenty of amenities and activities for all to enjoy. Guests have access to a pool, an adults-only hot tub, a playground, a snack bar, a kitchen during the summer, a Jumping Pillow and a nature trail. The city of Pueblo is only a few minutes from the park.

Inside John Martin Reservoir State Park
At John Martin Reservoir State Park, anglers will find many species of fish, including crappie, bass, wiper, walleye, bluegill, drum, catfish and more. Besides fishing, other activities include geocaching, hiking along trails like the Red Shin Trail and Red Shin Standing Ground, and riding horses. Hunting is not allowed inside the park, but it is allowed along the rest of the reservoir and shorelines inside the state wildlife management areas. Visitors can swim and jet ski on the reservoir. Many animals call the park home, so you may see deer, coyotes, porcupines, snakes, beavers, raccoons, bobcats, and many species of birds.
How to Get to
John Martin Reservoir State Park
John Martin Reservoir State Park is located near the town of Hasty. From the East, take Highway 50 west from Lamar 20 miles to Hasty. Turn south on CR 24 School Street and continue for two miles. The Visitor Center is on the right past the curve.
From the west, take Highway 50 east and continue 16 miles to Hasty. Turn south on CR 24 School Street and continue for two miles to reach the Visitor Center.
Entering John Martin Reservoir State Park
The park office is open Monday - Friday 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. and closed on Saturday and Sunday. Park hours are 5 a.m. - 10 p.m. unless visitors are camping, fishing or boating.
