Explore Abbotsford, Wisconsin in an RVshare RV Rental

The town of Abbotsford came about in the 1870s when the Wisconsin Central Railroad was developed through the area. The developers of the railroad had decided to build west from Colby to Chippewa Falls, WI, but they soon realized that Colby Hill was not a fitting location for a rail yard and junction. Instead, they decided to develop the railroad line a few miles north of Colby in a new settlement that was originally called Colby Junction. In 1880, the community was renamed Abbotsford in honor of the railroad executive Edwin H. Abbott. Abbotsford was incorporated as a village in 1894 and later as a city in 1965.

Abbotsford has remained a small, peaceful town throughout its history, and its present-day population is approximately 2,300. The quiet community is home to several lovely parks where visitors can enjoy picnics and several forms of outdoor recreation. Shortner Park, Red Arrow Park, and East Well Field are all pleasant green spaces to check out. The gentle waters of Porky Creek flow through the area as well, offering some quality fishing opportunities.
