The Green River Festival is a vibrant, multi-day event that brings together dozens of musical performers and thousands of attendees each year to welcome the summer season with an unforgettable celebration of live music, community, and fun. Held around the summer solstice, the festival offers an eclectic mix of genres, from folk and indie rock to blues, soul, and world music, ensuring that there is something for every music lover to enjoy. In its early years, the festival was primarily known for its hot air balloon displays. Over time, however, the event evolved into the musical extravaganza it is today. Since its inaugural event in 1986, the Green River Festival has grown in both size and reputation, earning recognition as one of New England’s premier summer music festivals. Now in its 39th year, the festival promises an unforgettable experience filled with great music, local food vendors, artisan markets, and a welcoming, family-friendly environment.

ACTIVITIES & ENTERTAINMENT

At the Green River Festival, there are quite a few family-friendly activities. First, you can take your artistically minded children to the Art Garden, which provides opportunities to play and create. All of the materials in the Art Garden are repurposed, allowing you to have fun while reducing your carbon footprint. There's even a parade for the whole family, and throughout each day of the festival, you can take in dramatic productions at the Round House Stage.

ON-SITE AMENITIES

The FAQ confirms that the entire event is compatible with the guidelines of the Americans with Disabilities Act. The organizers purposely chose an area that's nearly completely flat, and there are accessible trails that lead from place to place so that people who use wheelchairs can navigate more easily through the crowds than they could without.

Nearly 50 acts will perform at the festival over the three days this year. Remember, lineups are subject to change for various reasons, so be sure to check the website regularly to see if the act you want to see will be performing.

RVING AT THE EVENT

There is RV camping on-site at the Green River Music Festival. While there are no hookups available, the campground accommodates RVs up to 36 feet in length. Campers will have access to bathrooms and showers, and portable chemical toilets are also provided throughout the area for convenience. Communal water stations are available for washing hands and freshening up, though it is advisable to bring your own water supply for drinking and cooking. In addition to basic amenities, the campground features a small convenience store where you can pick up essential items you may have forgotten. Whether you need extra sunscreen, snacks, or camping supplies, this on-site option ensures you won’t have to leave the festival grounds for minor necessities. For those needing to empty their RV tanks, the closest dump station is at the Country Aire Campground in Shelburne Falls, Massachusetts, about 10 miles away.
