At the Green River Festival, there are quite a few family-friendly activities. First, you can take your artistically minded children to the Art Garden, which provides opportunities to play and create. All the materials in the Art Garden are repurposed, allowing you to have fun while reducing your carbon footprint. There's a parade for the whole family, and throughout each day of the festival, you can take in dramatic productions at the Round House Stage.

ON-SITE AMENITIES

According to festival organizers, the entire event is compatible with the guidelines of the Americans with Disabilities Act. The organizers purposely chose an area that's almost completely flat, and accessible trails lead from place to place so that people who use wheelchairs can navigate more easily through the crowds.

The Green River Festival is held at the Franklin County Fairgrounds. The address is 89 Wisdom Way, Greenfield, MA 01301. The fairgrounds offer some grassy areas mixed with some paved sections. You should bring a poncho, rain boots, and an umbrella just in case it rains. The venue can become quite muddy and slippery when it does.

FAQs About RVing to the Green River Festival

Since there aren’t any RV hookups, are there dumping stations on-site?

Currently, there aren’t any dumping stations on-site at the Franklin County Fairgrounds. However, you can find a dumping station at County Aire Campground, which is 10 miles from the venue.

Are RVers allowed to use generators at the on-site RV campground?

Yes, you may use a generator; however, you must shut it down during quiet hours. These are from 11 p.m. to sunrise Monday through Thursday and midnight until sunrise on weekends.

Am I allowed to move my RV after I park for the event?

Currently, the venue doesn’t allow RV campers to leave and reenter the campground during the event. If you need to leave the venue, you can bring a car and park it at the campground.

What should I bring in my RV?

You should bring an adequate supply of food and beverages for the entire weekend. You will also need leveling blocks for your RV. The venue allows alcoholic beverages on the premises, but currently, festivalgoers cannot bring glass containers.

The Green River Festival lineup includes Charley Crockett, Spoon, Geeze, The Beths, Kurt Vile & the Violators, Wednesday, Lucius, and The War and Treaty.

RVING AT THE EVENT

RVing at the event is available for RVs up to 36 feet; however, all camping spots do not currently have hookups. You can also choose tent or car camping, but you must secure the appropriate camping pass. The on-site camping spots sell out quickly, so you should book your spot in advance. RVing near the event is also possible. Your options begin with Northampton/Springfield KOA Holiday, about 21 miles from the venue. It offers RV camping spots that accommodate models up to 90 feet. The campground offers Wi-Fi, a snack bar, fishing, firewood, a swimming pool, propane, mini golf, and a pavilion. Another terrific choice is the Peppermint Park Camping Resort, which is 24 miles from the venue. It offers full hookups for RVs, and it features a swimming pool and spa, restrooms, showers, and free basic Wi-Fi.

If you want to stay at the Franklin County Fairgrounds, plan to arrive at noon on Thursday to get the best camping spot. You can use lawn decor and fairy lights to brighten up the area around your RV. You can bring an awning or canopy to keep your RV cooler. You should stock up on propane and ice as it can become expensive if you buy it at the venue. Bring large coolers for food storage while camping on-site.

HOW TO GET THERE

From Massachusetts Route 91: Take Exit 43. From there, the festival is about 2 miles away. The exit leads into a roundabout, where you should take the exit for Route 2A East. At the second set of traffic lights, you will see a Dunkin’ Donuts on your right. Turn right onto River Street, and then take the third right onto Wisdom Way, where you will be directed to the parking area. Please avoid driving onto Laurel Street, even by mistake. From Route 5 or Route 10: Take the exit for Petty Plain Road and follow it straight to the festival’s parking area.

PARKING

If you buy a parking pass, then you can park at the festival site. Otherwise, you'll have to park in one of the assigned lots of the city of Greenfield, which has suspended parking fees for the whole weekend. TICKETS & PRICING

The tickets are available through Tixr. One-day, two-day, and three-day passes are available for both adults and teens. It would be wise to secure the tickets as soon as possible, along with parking passes, so that you don't miss out and are prepared for the festival.

You will find several vendors in downtown Greenfield. You can also grab a bite to eat at one of Greenfield's restaurants before heading back to the festival. Stroll around, visit the arts and crafts booths, and catch a few performances early in the afternoon. Head back toward the main stage around 7:30 p.m. to catch the Spoon show. ● Day 4: Final moments and departure: Pack up your RV, and do all final cleanup tasks in the morning.
