Mid-August in Richmond tends to be hot and humid, with highs that often reach 88 degrees Fahrenheit. Richmond Raceway’s Weather Protection Program applies to regular grandstand tickets for all NASCAR races. If the race gets canceled due to inclement weather, you can exchange it for a ticket of equal or lesser value for another NASCAR race within the year. If inclement weather results in the race being pushed back by a day, you’ll also have the option to use Saturday’s ticket to attend the race on Sunday.

This lot is accessible from Interstate 95. It also provides portable restrooms, a dump station, and free all-day tram service to the backstretch. • GEICO Laburnum RV Parking/LOT D • Lot D provides free first-come, first-served parking via Meadowbridge Road. • GEICO Premium RV Parking/LOT F • Lot F is a dry camping RV parking lot at Richmond International Raceway. It costs $249.75–$266.40 to park in Lot F during the Cook Out 400.

6-Day RV Itinerary for the 2026 Richmond Raceway Cook Out 400

While the Richmond Raceway Cook Out 400 is a one-day event, this six-day itinerary includes practice, qualifying, and racing with NASCAR's lower series. • Day 1: Check into your campground at noon, and get yourself settled in for six days of NASCAR excitement. Meet your campground neighbors, and spend some time taking in the sights of the historic track. • Day 2: You can spend your only full day without any on-track action, taking a Richmond Food Tour. If you’re a history buff, check out the Virginia Holocaust Museum and the White House of the Confederacy. • Day 3: The Whelen Modified Series dominates the day on Thursday. With practice from 3:15 p.m. to 4:25 p.m., qualifying at 6 p.m., and the race at 7:30 p.m. • Day 4: The NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series takes the track on Friday with practice and qualifying running from 2:05 p.m. until 4 p.m. You can catch Cup Series practice and qualifying after that, before the Truck Series race gets underway at 7:30 p.m. • Day 5: The Fan Zone opens at noon, while the grandstand gates open at 2:30 p.m. The race gets underway at 7:30 p.m. • Day 6: Get some sleep and be prepared to check out of the campground by noon.
