Albuquerque is the home of the New Mexico State Fair, held annually in late summer at the Expo New Mexico fairgrounds. Take in live concerts and music, a rodeo series, carnival rides and games, an annual parade, themed Main Street Days, livestock exhibits, contests and competitions of a wide variety, and so much more. It’s the perfect way to say farewell to summer before fall is here!
A huge part of the fair involves the rodeo. Participants will take part in bull riding, bareback riding, and tie-down roping, among other events.
At Main Street Days, events include classic and antique car shows and first responders' appreciation days.
The fair also hosts music concerts with a varied lineup of performers. Continue to check the website for updates on the 2025 lineup.
There's also Special Entertainment and Spectaculars, including roaming performers and family-friendly performances.
Competitions abound at the New Mexico State Fair. View the competitions as a visitor or participate in them! Some of the competitions include the following: agriculture, art, creative arts, floriculture, green chile cheeseburger challenge, home arts, horse shows, livestock shows, mutton bustin’, national anthem audition, unique food competition, school arts, and queen competition. If you need to rent a wheelchair, an electric scooter, or a stroller, you can do so at Gate 1, located next to the parking office, and Gate 8, located next to the ticket booth.
In general, you can't bring in any outside food. Exceptions include bottled water and baby formula. You won't go hungry or thirsty at the fair, though, with its numerous food and drink options. Think typical fair food but with a New Mexico twist.
If you have a service dog, it's fine to bring it with you as long as you keep it leashed at all times.
New Mexico state police officers patrol the Expo New Mexico fairgrounds. If you're ever in need of first aid, find it in the Medicine Bow just across Racetrack from the Reithoffer Carnival. There's also a lost and found at the VetSec building on the southwest corner of the fairgrounds. There's also a Sensory Station on-site for those with special needs.

Expo New Mexico offers RV space rentals. The rate is $60 per night for a spot that includes at least one hookup, which could be electricity, sewer, or water. You can also dry camp for $45 a night. Spaces are first-come, first-served.
Be sure to read up on the RV parking rules and regulations. Among the important points you should know about, there are no refunds issued for RV parking. Once you're parked, you cannot move to another location. If you have pets, you must keep them under control at all times.
You can also find a plethora of RV campgrounds in Albuquerque and surrounding areas. At the American RV Resort, you'll have access to a fenced dog park, a heated swimming pool, RV supplies, a clubhouse, and back-in and pull-through sites.
Consider the pet-friendly Route 66 RV Resort, located 20 minutes west of downtown. Here, you'll find indoor amenities like games, a clubhouse, and an exercise room. Outdoor amenities include sand volleyball, pickleball courts, dog parks, and a resort-style pool.
New Mexico beckons with its Native American pueblo communities, numerous historical sites and attractions, national parks, state parks, brilliantly blue sunny skies, and dry, mild weather. After the fair, take your RV out to explore some of the state's most scenic byways. Try the Turquoise Trail, connecting ABQ with the capital city of Santa Fe.

The best way to get to the New Mexico State Fair is to take Interstate 40 and exit at the San Mateo or Louisiana exit. From there, follow directions to Expo New Mexico. Parking for the New Mexico State Fair is available at Gates 1 and 8. Check the site's FAQs page for updates on pricing. There is ADA parking at Gate 1.
You can buy tickets to the 2025 fair online once they're available. General admission tickets are $15, with reduced rates of $10 for seniors and children ages 6–12. Children under 6 enter free. Also, discounts are available for groups of 20 or more people. Tickets are nonrefundable.
