The Left Tailrace Recreation Area sits on the shore of Lake Francis Case along the Missouri River. The park encompasses over 8,000 acres of public land, which features hiking trails, boat launches, and much more. Visitors can enjoy sightseeing, bird-watching, and other nature-based recreational activities.
Left Tailrace Recreation Area is another Pierre RV park owned and maintained by the Army Corps of Engineers. It is located just upstream from the Big Bend Dam. The park features an abundance of local wildlife, including tribal bison. There are plenty of opportunities to fish and hunt. Popular targets include waterfowl and game birds, but big-game hunting is bountiful, too. The campground is around 20 miles from Pierre. The Pierre campsites in this park offer a view that cannot be matched.
“Nice campground. We had site 20B. It offers a view of the water from the campsites.
