Gillham Lake is a Cossatot River reservoir with a total of three campgrounds around it. Little and Big Coon Creek Campgrounds are both above the dam at the end of a steep, windy road. The small park has only 10 sites, and the large one has 31 spacious paved spots that each have a grill and fire ring.
Big Coon Creek Park has a couple of hiking trails and a sandy beach. Several pieces of playground equipment are on site for the children, including one that is actually in the lake’s shallow water. Although fishing, swimming, and kayaking are the most popular sports at the park, hunters are permitted to search for prey just north of Little Coon Creek Park on the east side of the lake.
“Big Coon Creek”…We enjoyed camping this lake and I enjoyed the kayaking. It sure was nice not to have to dodge the big ski boats! So I will be back…” – Cathy, Camping and Kayaking Jaunts Blog
