About 10 minutes up US-244 you’ll find the Mount Rushmore KOA, tucked away into the Black Hills yet easy to access. The area does offer Palmer Creek and horse stables, but there’s not much else in the immediate vicinity. That being said, it makes for a peaceful stay surrounded by nature. Hill City is only 10 minutes away, and you’ll find everything you need there.
This KOA is a paradise for hikers and people who love the great outdoors. It’s right next to three beautiful peaks – St. Elmo Peak, Black Elk Peak, and Sylvan Peak. The sites are surrounded by ponderosa pines of South Dakota’s black hills, and Mount Rushmore is just down the road. On top of the natural beauty, the campground itself offers great family-friendly amenities such as guided horseback rides, a splash pad, crafts, pancake breakfasts, and live entertainment. You’ll keep the whole family entertained for days here.
