Urban Camping

Urban camping in Missouri is a great way to enjoy the amenities of the big city while still having access to the serene forested area of the Ozarks. Although the winters in Missouri can be very cold, the other seasons bring out beautiful foliage and flowers. The drive between cities is gorgeous, and traveling by RV means that you have a convenient place to stay while you explore cultural sights, historical places, parks, and attractions.

Not sure where to go urban camping in Missouri? Here are our favorite spots.

Urban RV Parks in Missouri

Worlds of Fun Village

The Worlds of Fun Village is a terrific place to stay just outside of Kansas City, a short walk from the Worlds of Fun Park. They have roomy sites with full hookups, including satellite television and free high-speed internet. During the warmer seasons, they have a swimming pool and hot tub for refreshment on hot days. There is also a store where you can keep yourself well-stocked during your stay.

Besides the Worlds of Fun amusement park, you’ll also want to make sure to visit:

Campus RV Park

The Campus RV Park is located in the historic town of Independence. The sites are concrete pads with electric, water, and sewer. The price is also extremely reasonable. You will find a beautiful little wooded property with quite a few attractions within walking distance and more within a short drive to Kansas City.

Things to do in Independence include:

Cook’s RV Motor Park

Cook’s RV Motor Park is located at the northern edge of Springfield. This is a cozy little park located in a shady spot in the heart of the Ozarks, and they are pet-friendly with a little fenced area for your fur babies. It is close to the fun in Springfield while being far enough away to avoid the freeway noise, and instead, you can fall asleep to the sounds of frogs and crickets. The park includes public restrooms with showers, laundry facilities, and even a dog wash area. There are also picnic tables, community grills, and a community campfire area.

Lambert’s Café RV Park

Lambert’s Café RV Park is located at the south edge of Springfield and is open all year. The park has 37 sites sitting on level ground that are easy to pull through, and the RV sites are 75 feet long with hookups, so you have plenty of room for your rig. They include electric, sewer, and city water connections. This is a prime location right between Springfield and Branson, so you are close to all the attractions in both areas. At the same time, you will love the beautiful wooded setting when it is time to tuck in for the night.

Where to Urban Camp in Missouri

  • Kansas City is an excellent place for urban camping in Missouri.
  • We also adore the city of St. Louis and highly recommend it as an urbane amping destination.
  • Springfield and nearby Branson are good picks, as is the small city of Columbia.

Ease of Urban RV Camping in Missouri

Depending on the time of year, the weather in Missouri can change drastically, even during a 24-hour period, so be sure to pack layers of clothing. It can also be quite hot and humid, so you will want to pack plenty of fresh drinking water.

While you won’t find tons of obstacles when driving an RV in Missouri, you’ll still want to research your route ahead of time. If you have a large RV, you will want to be mindful of low bridges, construction zones, and narrow streets in the big cities. It’s also a good idea to plan for heavy traffic during rush hour in cities like Kansas City and St. Louis. Making reservations at popular campgrounds ahead of time will give you peace of mind that your spot will be ready when you get there.

With an RV rental, your urban vacation will be a little more comfortable! After you’ve spent a long day exploring the city, you can relax around the fire at your campsite. Then, retire inside to enjoy all the comforts of home onboard your RV. Plan your perfect urban getaway with an RV rental from RVshare.
