Urban Camping

While many see Kansas as farming country, it is also an excellent place for an urban camping adventure. Wichita, Overland Park, and Kansas City have fantastic sites to visit, including the Museum of World Treasures, the Museum of Prairiefire, and the CW Parker Carousel Museum.

Ready to try urban camping in Kansas yourself? Here are some of our favorite spots.

You will love the spacious sites at Camp the Range RV Park in northeast Wichita. There are 70 shade trees at this 20-acre campground.

Don’t worry if you leave something at home because they have a convenience store. Wi-Fi is available at each site, so you can easily brag to your friends about the great time you are having in Wichita. Arrive back home with clean clothes by taking advantage of their 24-hour laundry facility

Air Capital RV Park

Find sites up to 70 feet long at Air Capital RV Park in Wichita. You will never have to worry about leveling your rig because they have concrete pads. There is plenty of grass between each site for your favorite yard games. If you are concerned about spring storms, they have a storm shelter.

Enjoy shopping fun by taking a short stroll right behind this campground or drive into the city to experience one of the attractions listed below.

Longview Campground

Just across the river in Lee’s Summit in Jackson County, you will find Longview Campground. This campground offers full and partial hookups and is open from April to September. You will love fishing and boating on Longview Lake, and your children are sure to love the fun playground.

If you’re looking for things to do outside of the campground, consider the following options:

Kansas City West/Lawrence KOA Holiday

Kansas City West/Lawrence KOA Holiday is less than 38 miles from Kansas City and provides spacious full hookup sites. You can rent bikes at this campground, or play golf, tetherball, Frisbee golf, a miniature zipline, or horseshoes. There are also two playgrounds that your children will adore. Of course, you’ll also want to explore the town of Topeka. We recommend the following attractions:

Topeka/Capital City KOA Journey

Cable and Wi-Fi are included in your price when you camp at Topeka/Capital City KOA Journey. Everyone will want to go on the hayride, swim in the saltwater poo, and make use of the three stocked fishing ponds.
