Seriously, if you’re looking to fill an entire trip (or two or three) with theme park fun, you definitely won’t be disappointed in a trip to the Lone Star State. Not only are there a lot of Texas amusement parks, but a huge majority of them are incredibly high quality too, making it super difficult to pick and choose which ones to check out if time is limited.
That’s where this article comes into play. We’ve done a lot of the legwork for you and have hand selected our absolute favorite amusement parks in Texas. Read on to learn everything you need to know before visiting Texas amusement parks.

First, let’s take a look at the top Texas amusement park options. While pretty much any Texas amusement park is bound to be fun, these are the cream of the crop. You can choose any of the parks listed below and rest assured you will have an amazing time on your Lone Star State getaway:

Six Flags Over Texas and Hurricane Harbor
Every theme park enthusiast knows about the Six Flags chain of amusement parks. These are scattered across the US, and they tend to be great options for thrill seekers and families alike. Six Flags Over Texas in Arlington is the original Six Flags park, and like its sibling parks, it is an excellent theme park addition to any trip.
Rides at this park include 12 different roller coasters, meaning the adrenaline junkies in your group are sure to have an absolute blast. Looking for fun for littles? The many Looney Toons-themed kiddie rides are sure to suit their fancy. Meanwhile, families can enjoy antique cars, a pirate ship ride, a river rapids ride, and more!
Looking for water park fun? Six Flags Hurricane Harbor is right across the road. You will need a separate admission ticket for this one, but that’s okay because it deserves an entire day of your vacation. The park is packed with slides, a lazy river, a wave pool, a surf simulator, and plenty of splashing fun for the little ones.

Wondering where to stay when visiting Six Flags Over Texas? Well, in an RV of course! There are tons of great RV parks in this area of Texas, and taking an RV means you’ll have plenty of privacy and room to spread out.
Treetops RV Resort — One of our favorite places to stay while in Arlington, Treetops RV Resort is a lovely place. This park offers guests full hookups, clean restrooms and laundry facilities, and a wonderful pool. There are plenty of shade trees and the location is fantastic. Of course, the friendly staff is pretty awesome too!

Tickets to Six Flags Over Texas start at $44.99 when bought online. Meanwhile, Hurricane Harbor entry is between $25 and $90 depending on when you visit. There are annual passes available, and one level allows you to visit Six Flags parks all over the country—a great option for travelers!
Outside food and drink are not allowed in Six Flags Parks. Food is available in the parks, but prices are steep. Additionally, there is a fee for parking, so be sure to budget for these things.
Six Flags Fiesta Texas
Another great Six Flags Park, Six Flags Fiesta Texas is located in San Antonio and is a great addition to any trip to the area. This is an ideal park for families with kids, but it also offers the thrills we’ve all come to expect from Six Flags parks.
Attractions at this park are plentiful and varied. For roller coaster fanatics, there are seven amazing coasters to choose from, and one could easily spend the entire day hopping from one to the next. That said, we highly recommend checking out the many family rides in the park, and if you have kids, the adorable Looney Toons-themed kiddie rides are a must.
Six Flags Fiesta Texas is also home to a small water park which is located within the main theme park’s gates. This area is great for cooling off on a hot Texas day and includes water slides, a Texas-shaped pool, and more. You won’t want to miss this part of the park, so be sure to pack your swimsuit!

This is another trip that you will want to pack up an RV for. There’s really not any better way to explore the great state of Texas than by RV, especially if you plan to hop from one area of the giant state to another.
Travelers World RV Resort — One of the best places to park an RV in the San Antonio area is Travelers World RV Resort. This park is a bit on the older side, but it is incredibly well kept and nicer than many of the newer options out there. Sites are level and include full hookups. There is a dog park, a pool and hot tub, a pickleball court, and more. It would be hard not to have a wonderful time while staying in this park!

The cost to visit Six Flags Fiesta Texas changes throughout the year. Currently, day passes are $44.99 when bought online. Annual passes are also available, and as mentioned above, the pass that allows reciprocal admission to other Six Flags Parks is a great deal if you plan to do a lot of traveling.
Other costs you will want to plan for include in-park drinks, snacks, and meals, as well as parking and locker rentals. Keep in mind that outside food and drinks are not allowed in the park.
Morgan’s Wonderland
Moving on, the next park on our list is an amazingly unique one. Morgan’s Wonderland in San Antonio was built entirely with people with special needs in mind. Inspired by the founders’ daughter with special needs, this park is the world’s first ultra-accessible amusement park!
This 25-acre park features 25 ultra-accessible attractions that give everyone a chance to play. There is a wheelchair-accessible Ferris wheel and carousel, a small outdoor theater with a variety of entertainment, a catch-and-release fishing pond, an entire Sensory Village where sensory seekers can enjoy imaginative play, and more.
In addition to the traditional theme park, Morgan’s Wonderland is also home to Morgan’s Inspiration Island, an ultra-accessible splash pad. This spot is perfect in the hot summer months. It includes a River Boa Adventure Ride, colorful water play areas, and incredible waterproof wheelchairs.

Seeing as Morgan’s Wonderland is also in San Antonio, it would be a perfect addition to your trip to Six Flags Fiesta Texas, and you could totally stay in the RV park mentioned above. Prefer a different campground however? Another favorite option is listed below.
San Antonio/Alamo KOA Holiday — We always love KOA parks, and this one is just as great as the rest. Sites are level and include full hookups. There is an onsite store that sells breakfast and pizza, making your trip that much easier. Kids love the pool, the hiking trail is wonderful, and the location can’t be beat.

Tickets to Morgan’s Wonderland are $19 for those ages 18–61, and $13 for all others (as well as members of the military). Children ages 2 and under enter for free, as do guests with special needs. Admission to Morgan’s Inspiration Island can be added to your ticket for only $10 more, or you can purchase a separate water park ticket to use a different day.
Parking at Morgan’s Wonderland is free. Wheelchair and scooter rentals are available. Braille signage, a 3-D park model, adult-sized changing tables, fast passes for certain guests, and a service-animal rest area make the park more accessible for all.
Kemah Boardwalk
Looking to enjoy some traditional boardwalk fun while in Texas? There are a few places to do this, but one of our all-time favorites is Kemah Boardwalk. This is a family-friendly place that is packed with awesome things to do and places to eat.
Rides at Kemah Boardwalk include a child-sized Ferris wheel, a double-decker carousel, a large Ferris wheel, an adorable train, spinning swings, and more. One guest favorite is the Flare, a looping roller coaster that is perfect for those who are looking for a thrill. Those same thrill seekers might also appreicate the Boardwalk Bullet wooden coaster.
Other attractions in Kemah Boardwalk include midway games, an arcade, a playground, and dancing fountains. You’ll also find a live animal exhibit where you can feed and interact with the stingrays before wandering through a rainforest to see all kinds of creatures.
Of course, there are also plenty of dining and shopping options, so you can easily enjoy a full day at the boardwalk.

You will of course want to stay near the Kemah Boardwalk so that returning to your lodging after a long day of fun won’t be a hassle. The best way to go about this? Bring an RV along.
USA RV Resorts Marina Bay — One of the best (and closest) RV parks to stay at when visiting Kemah Boardwalk is USA RV Resorts Marina Bay. This awesome park is incredibly well maintained and features amenities such as full hookups, a laundry room, and more. The location is fantastic and the staff is great!

The rides and attractions at Kemah Boardwalk can be paid for individually. Prices range from $5.25 to $25, with most rides falling in the $6–$7 range. There is also an option to purchase an all-day ride pass, which costs $19.99 for those under 48 inches tall and $25.99 for those over 48 inches. This pass includes access to the vast majority of the rides in the park, making it a great deal.
Both free and paid parking are available at Kemah Boardwalk. Just go in knowing that the free options are further from the fun, meaning a longer walk.
Galveston Island Historic Pleasure Pier
Another wonderful option for seaside amusement park fun is Galveston Island Historic Pleasure Pier. Like the rest of Galveston Island, this little park is incredibly charming and is the perfect addition to a summer beach vacation. It also has a very interesting history that is well worth reading about before you visit!
As far as attractions go, this pier has plenty to offer. There is a super tall spinning swing ride, an amazingly colorful Ferris wheel, a carousel, a swinging sea dragon, and a whole bunch more. For adrenaline junkies, there is the Iron Shark Rollercoaster. Meanwhile, the youngest visitors will enjoy the teacups and the Frog Hopper.
Another fantastic attraction at this park? The amazing 5D Theater ride, which sends guests on some amazing adventures. You might also appreciate the classic midway games!
RV Camping near Galveston Island Historic Pleasure Pier
RV camping is definitely the way to go when visiting Galveston Island. Not only does it ensure you’re comfortable no matter where you end up parking, it also happens to be much cheaper than the overpriced Galveston hotel rooms.
Galveston Island State Park — Our absolute favorite place to stay on the entire island is Galveston Island State Park. Although this park is a bit off the beaten path, it’s also absolutely stunning and the camping there is 100% affordable. Beachside sites are available, as are some less expensive sites that are set further back from the beach. Most sites have electricity, all have water, and there is a dump station and bathhouse available.

Entry fees to Pleasure Pier are $11 for those 48 inches tall and up, $9 for those under 48 inches, and $8 for seniors. In addition to the entry fee, you’ll also have to pay for rides.
Like Kemah Boardwalk, Galveston Island Historic Pleasure Pier offers an all-day ride pass. This pass is $27.99 for those 48 inches and over, and $21.99 for those under the height cutoff. Individual ride tickets can also be purchased, and military and veteran discounts are available.
There are several parking options around. Most do cost money, so be prepared to pay to park your vehicle.
Schlitterbahn Waterpark New Braunfels
Touted as the “World’s Best and Biggest Waterpark,” Schlitterbahn New Braunfels truly is enormous. In fact, the place is so big that it is split into two main sections, and is home to four different themed areas or “parks.” The park covers a total of 70 acres and is home to 51 fantastic attractions. It’s so big, there are even trams that take guests from one section to the other!
Some of the most loved attractions in Schlitterbahn New Braunfels are Boogie Bahn, the first ever surfing simulator, and The Dragon’s Revenge, a ride that is credited as the world’s first water coaster. Kids will love the Downhill Racer, and the Master Blaster is a 6-story-drop slide that is sure to give you the thrills you crave. You will also need to catch a ride on The Falls, the longest tubing adventure in the park.
Of course, there are also lazy rivers, play areas for young kids, and all the other classic attractions you expect from a waterpark.
Note: If you’re looking for even more waterpark fun, the original Schlitterbahn location can be found in Galveston. This is a smaller park, but is still packed with fun!
RV Camping near Schlitterbahn Waterpark New Braunfels
Obviously, you will want to bring an RV along on your Schlitterbahn adventure, especially if you plan to hop from one Schlitterbahn location to the other. But where will you park your home-on-wheels? Fortunately, that’s a question that’s easy to answer in New Braunfels.
Potters Creek Park — One of our favorite campgrounds in the New Braunfels areas is a Corps of Engineers park called Potters Creek Park. This campground offers power and water hookups at the sites and some of the least expensive camping fees you’ll ever find. There is a dump station onsite, and the bathhouses are in nice shape.

Admission to Schlitterbahn New Braunfels is $39.99 when bought online. Military discounts are available, and there are also discounts for large groups who wish to visit the park together. Planning to visit many times? Consider a season pass.
This park allows outside food and drink (just not alcohol), so bringing a picnic is just fine. That said, there are also 25 eateries inside the park, so you shouldn’t have trouble finding food.
There are rental lockers available in the park, and parking is free!
Epic Waters Indoor Waterpark
The largest indoor waterpark in Texas, Epic Waters in Grand Prairie is an absolutely wonderful place to get away and have a splashing good time. We love that the park is completely indoors and heated during the winter months, meaning you can visit any time of year. We also appreciate the enormous size of the park, which makes it possible to fill a whole day with fun and never feel bored.
The water slide options at Epic Waters are plentiful and varied. The Aquanaut is the first indoor double-rider AquaSphere ride, and it’s a total blast. Meanwhile, the Lasso Loop uses a trap door to drop you into a free fall before sending you around a 360-degree loop. It’s the country’s tallest AquaLoop, and it is thrilling in the best way. Other slides include a boomerang slide, racing mat slides, twisting body slides, and more.
Looking for other types of fun while in Epic Waters? Be sure to check out the surf simulator for a fun challenge. The lazy river is fun for the whole family, and Rascal’s Round Up is the place to play if you’re a kid.

You could totally stay at the aforementioned Treetops RV Resort during your visit to Epic Waters. That said, if you don’t like that idea for any reason, there are plenty of other options around. One of our favorites is listed below.
Dallas/Arlington KOA Holiday — Another fantastic KOA property, this park offers a variety of different types of sites, so you can choose the kind that best suits your needs. There is a pool onsite, and the dog park is ideal for pet owners. We also love the community fire ring, horseshoe pit, and playground for kids. Plus, the camper wash station is great if your rig needs a bath!

Passes to Epic Waters vary in price based on when you visit. That said, you can expect to pay between $30 and $50 per person. Children ages 3 and under enter for free.
Rental lockers are available for rent in the park and there are changing areas for guests. Outside floaties and pool toys are not allowed, nor are outside food and drink. Food is available for purchase onsite. Parking is free.
SeaWorld San Antonio and Aquatica Water Park
Another great San Antonio park, SeaWorld San Antonio is a must-visit attraction for those who want to get up close and personal with ocean animals. Part aquarium, part amusement park, you can bet the whole family will have a good—and potentially educational—time when visiting SeaWorld!
Rides at SeaWorld San Antonio include everything from large rollercoasters to super fun family rides and even some kiddie rides. One of the most thrilling coasters in the park is the Great White Roller Coaster. Meanwhile, families love the Journey to Atlantis, which is part coaster, part water ride. Lastly, little ones will adore the Sesame Street Bay of Play where they can ride Sesame Street-themed rides, meet some of their favorite characters, and more.
Want to check out the animals while in SeaWorld? Good idea! There are several different ways to go about this. From looking at the animals in their habitats to attending one of the many animal presentations, you’re sure to find a way for your family to enjoy the creatures that call SeaWorld San Antonio their home.
Finally, we must mention Aquatica Water Park. This park is owned and operated by SeaWorld and is an excellent addition to your SeaWorld vacation. This park features a variety of awesome water rides as well as some super cool animal experiences that make this one of the most unique water parks around.

Mission City RV Park — A simple but lovely little campground, Mission City RV Park is an excellent place to park a rig while exploring San Antonio. The park is just minutes from the Alamo and many other area attractions, and the sites feature full hookups so you can return to your RV and relax in complete comfort.

Admission to SeaWorld San Antonio starts at just $49.99 for a single day ticket. You can add all-day dining for $30 more, something we highly recommend doing if you plan to eat all of your meals and your snacks in the park on the day you visit. There are also two-park tickets available, which include admission to Aquatica and are good for multiple days.
Other add-on options include unlimited Quick Queue and Reserved Seating for shows. There is a fee for parking at SeaWorld San Antonio as well as Aquatica.
In the Game
For a different kind of amusement park experience, head to In The Game in Corpus Christi. This is an indoor and outdoor family fun center with an onsite restaurant. It is absolutely enormous, and the number of fun attractions packed into the place is astounding.
Some of those attractions include a world-class mini golf course, a super fun arcade, axe throwing, and batting cages. You’ll also find rides such as bumper boats, a bungy dome, and go-karts here. There are kiddie rides for the little ones, and even a couple of thrill rides!

RV Camping near In the Game
As always, we highly recommend packing up the RV and taking it along on your trip to Corpus Christi. This will allow you to easily move from one part of Texas to another, and will help you stay completely comfortable everywhere you go.
Colonia del Rey RV Park — Wondering where you might park an RV in Corpus Christi? We recommend Colonia del Rey RV Park. This park is in an excellent location. It features paved sites with full hookups as well as a lovely pool for cooling off on those hot Texas days.
Planning Your Trip to In the Game
There is no fee to enter In the Game. Instead, guests buy credits which can be exchanged for rides and games. 60 credits can be bought for $50, 228 credits can be purchased for $175, and there are many levels in between. For reference, attractions cost between four and ten credits each.
As mentioned above, there is a restaurant inside of In the Game. You will definitely want to budget for eating in the restaurant, as we feel this is part of the experience.
Wonder World Cave & Adventure Park
Finally, we must mention Wonder World & Adventure Park in San Marcos. This Texas attraction has been around since 1903. In fact, Wonder Cave was the first show cave in all of Texas. Since then, more fun has been added and the park is still going strong!
The main attraction here is, of course, Wonder Cave. This is a beautiful dry-formed cave and is absolutely amazing to see. All tours of the cave are guided, and the guides are both knowledgeable and fun, sharing tons of information on the history, formation, and other aspects of the cave,
In addition to Wonder Cave, this park also plays host to an “anti-gravity” fun house as well as a small train that takes guests through a wildlife park. Want even more fun? Check out the arcade room, observation tower, and gem mining in the park.
RV Camping near Wonder World Cave & Adventure Park
You will, of course, need someplace to stay when visiting Wonder World Cave & Adventure Park. Bringing an RV is always a safe bet, and we know the perfect place to park it.
Pecan Park Riverside RV — Pecan Park Riverside RV is a lovely place to make yourself at home for a bit. The staff are hardworking and keep the place nice and clean. Sites have full hookups and there is plenty of shade throughout the park. There is also a river that runs through the campground, and riverside sites are available.

Guests who wish to visit Wonder World Cave & Adventure Park have the option to purchase a ticket for an individual attraction or an all-in-one ticket that includes all of the best attractions in the park.
