King Creek Trailhead

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is responsible for 1 in every 10 acres of land in the U.S.

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) manages 1 out of every 10 acres of public land in the United States. The BLM is a federal agency established in 1946 by President Harry S. Truman to preserve and maintain the nation's mineral resources and natural lands, including the King Creek Trailhead in Colorado. RVers can camp for free in some places, but many Bureau of Land Management campgrounds require a reservation and a small fee. If you're looking for a place to sleep beneath the stars, search for "BLM camping near me" for spots near the King Creek Trailhead.

King Creek Trailhead is 203 miles to the southeast of Rocky Mountain National Park and 133 miles north of Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park. This area serves as a trailhead to the 12,000-acre King Mountain Recreation Area, offering opportunities for hiking, horseback riding, and hunting in an uncrowded area.

Leave No Trace Leaf

The Bureau of Land Management requests that visitors to King Creek Trailhead clean up after themselves. Make sure to observe any fire restrictions and only build fires in existing fire rings. If you're setting up a dispersed campsite, try your best to set up in a location that was previously used for camping. Bury any human waste at least 200 feet from running water, and put trash inside bags to carry away with you. Make sure to leave behind any natural artifacts you may find. If everyone took a souvenir home after a camping trip, it could have a devastating impact over time. Finally, strive to respect all wildlife and keep a safe distance from any that you see.
