What to Do at
Lake Corpus Christi State Park

Inside Lake Corpus Christi State Park

One of the biggest reasons to visit Lake Corpus Christi State Park is the 18,256-acre lake where fishing for catfish is often excellent. Fish from the piers to catch channel catfish using cheese bait and cut-bait produce in areas where the water is less than 8 feet deep. Head out in a boat to catch flathead and blue catfish on live bluegill and shad in deeper waters.

This park is also a popular stop with migrant birds who breed in the northern United States and Canada before spending their summers in Mexico, Central America, South America or the Caribbean islands. There is a direct trail to an area with 21 bird feeders and four birdbaths, which is a great place to relax and see how many birds you can spot. While there is no lifeguard on duty, this park is a popular place to go swimming and play in the water, and you can rent kayaks and paddleboards from a vendor at this state park. Bring your used books with you to swap at the book exchange near this park's entrance.
