Built in the 1930s by the Civilian Conservation Corps, Kooser State Park is a Pennsylvania tourist destination that borders the Forbes State Forest. Many people venture to the park for outdoor activities like hiking, camping, swimming, and fishing. The Kooser State Park Family Cabin District, which contains 13 buildings, was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1987. Jefferson and Greensburg are the closest cities to the recreation area, and they are both located in Somerset County. Governed by the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, the park covers a total of 250 acres. Pioneer Park Campground

Inside Kooser State Park
Kooser Lake, a man-made creation from the Great Depression that covers 4 acres, is open to guests for fishing and boating. Types of fish that you may find when fishing at the lake include bluegill, bass, and trout. Swimming is not permitted at Kooser Lake, but there is a beach on the state park's premises that allows it. To go hiking, you can check out the 1.5-mile Kooser Trail or the 1-mile Kincora Trail, which is named after a Roman Catholic priest from Ireland. During the winter season, you can enjoy cross-country skiing at either of the aforementioned trails.

Kooser State Park
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and Baltimore, Maryland, are both fairly easy to travel to Kooser State Park from. On the way from Pittsburgh, start by getting onto I-579 S. Get on I-376 E from Boulevard of the Allies. After following I-376 E and I-76 E to PA-31 E in Donegal Township, take exit 91 from I-76 E. Follow PA-31 E to Tree Army Rd in Jefferson Township, and you will arrive at the destination.
On the way from Baltimore, start by taking Light St and E Conway St to I-395 S. After following I-70 W and I-76 W to Pa Turnpike Acc in Somerset, take exit 110 from I-70 W/I-76 W. Take PA-31 W to Tree Army Rd in Jefferson Township, and you will arrive at the destination.
