Grass Point State Park is located just north of Fishers Landing and Frontenac, directly on the St. Lawrence River near Alexandria Bay in New York. It is recognized as one of the leading fishing destinations in the state and attracts tens of thousands of visitors annually. The landscape is predominantly flat, with open views of the river from many points, and covers 114 acres. River frontage is expanded by the park's location on a point that extends into the river.

RV Resorts & Campsites in Grass Point State Park
Grass Point State Park has 19 trailer and RV sites as well as 53 tent sites. Camping is permitted from May through October. Up to six people are allowed to stay at a site. All RV sites have a 20-amp electricity hookup. Water is accessible via community spigots, and a dump station is available in the campground. The maximum RV length is 30 feet, and all sites are configured for back-in parking. Some of the campsites are located along the river and adjacent to the marina. Campers can take advantage of picnic tables, fire pits, a playground, and restrooms with hot showers. In addition, the campground is within walking distance of the beach and boat ramps.

Grass Point State Park
With Grass Point State Park's location directly along the St. Lawrence River, water activities like boating, paddling, and fishing are popular ways to spend time at the park. The campground and picnic areas are located close to the water, making it easy to enjoy the river throughout your visit.
Fishing
The St. Lawrence River is well-known for smallmouth and largemouth bass fishing, and it is also home to muskies, pike, pumpkinseeds, bluegill, and perch. When fishing in the New York waters of the river, a state fishing license is required. A Canadian fishing license is required when fishing on the Canadian side. You can get your New York fishing license online before your arrival.
Nature Watching
The area around the St. Lawrence River is home to a variety of bird species that you can spot while fishing, boating, camping, and enjoying the park in other ways. Some of the species you may see are yellowthroats, Canadian geese, great blue herons, green herons, night herons, warblers, osprey, and cormorants. While hiking, you may spot deer, rabbits, and chipmunks.
Hiking
Several small, unmarked trails are located throughout Grass Point State Park, including a few that fork off from the snowmobile trail. This trail runs for roughly a mile and crosses through the park's center. During the warmer months, you can hike this route.
Stargazing
Grass Point State Park has large open spaces that provide unobstructed views of the night sky. The best vantage points are located on the eastern side of the park, away from the campfires and lantern lights in the campground.
Boating
Motorboat rentals are available at the marina at hourly, daily, and weekly rates. The marina also offers day-use and overnight dockage. The marina and boat launch are open seasonally, and you can use the launch for personal watercraft like kayaks and canoes.
How to Get to
Grass Point State Park
Grass Point State Park is located just west of the intersection of Interstate 81 and Highway 12 near Collins Landing. From Watertown, travel north on Interstate 81. Then, turn west on Highway 12. Just beyond the Thousand Islands Winery and the Thousand Islands Bait Store, turn right on Grassy Point Road to enter the park.
Entering Grass Point State Park
Grass Point State Park has direct access from Highway 12, and the park office is located almost immediately after the turnoff into the park. The park office is open at 8 a.m. daily and has a large parking lot. After registering at the park office, you can proceed down Grassy Point Road. The first road on the left leads to a mechanics area. A larger parking lot is located farther down the road and provides easy access to the marina, boat launch, and picnic areas. Both parking lots have handicap-accessible spaces. The toll booth hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. for non-peak weekdays. For peak weekdays and all weekends, the toll booth is open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

While the park is open year-round, the campground and marina at Grass Point State Park are only open from May through October. Because of this, Grass Point State Park is most appealing to visitors during the warmer months of the year.
While most people visit the park for boating and fishing, it is also a popular destination for birders. Some of the many species that you may spot are osprey, yellowthroats, cormorants, night herons, Canadian geese, green herons, and great blue herons.
Nineteen Grass Point State Park camping spots are designated for trailers and RVs. The maximum RV length and availability of electricity hookups varies by site.
Reservations are required to camp at Grass Point State Park, and they must be made online or by phone. The camping fee ranges from $15 to $31, and there is no additional reservation fee.
You are welcome to bring two pets to Grass Point State Park. They must be on a leash, and you are responsible for picking up after your four-legged companions.
