Pancho Villa State Park is located on the New Mexico/Mexico border. This park is located where Pancho Villa's division of Mexican soldiers attacked United States troops stationed at Columbus, New Mexico, on March 9, 1916. While at this state park, you can visit the museum to learn more about the events that ended in a full-fledged scrimmage with Villa’s troops being captured. The U.S. Customs House used at the time of the raid serves as the park’s headquarters building. Spend some time outside here watching for the many species of birds drawn to this park in the Chihuahua Desert because of the use of irrigation in the area. This park is located about 232 miles from Albuquerque, 32 miles from Deming and 65 miles from Playas Hachita, New Mexico.

How to Get to
Pancho Villa State Park
This park is easily accessible from Interstate 10. Get off at the Deming, New Mexico, exit and head south on New Mexico 11 South. In Columbus, New Mexico, turn right on New Mexico 9 West. Continue for about a mile, and the park will be on your left.
